My mom is the best mom ever. She does everything to help me.Every day she cooks me breakfast, lunch and supper and also cooks for the rest of the family. She gets up at six o'clock in the morning and works full time five days a week. She helps me with my homework all the time.she is like a raindrop, precious and beautiful. She tought me how to read, how to do things and what was right and wrong.Whithout this amazing mother I wouldn't be here!
OUR MOM      By kathryn+Nick
We think our mom is special because she does eveything. She works full time, she cooks break- fast, lunch and supper every day even if she is sick. She helps us with our homework and reads us stories every night. She takes us places even if she doesn't want to go.She buys us lots of new things that we are trully thankful for.Every day she does something to make our lifes better.Without her we wouldn't be here!
My friend Kim      By Aaron Livingstone
I am writing on behalf of Kim's son, Cohen, who doesn't have the best sentence structure or grammar, being 17 months old. But if he could, he'd tell you how amazing his mother is. She is 22, and raises Cohen on her own after finding out his father was involved in things she didn’t want her son to be a part of. Now she spends every day of her life loving and caring for her son, and instilling in him the values that make her such an amazing person, and such an inspiring mother. I don't know how many times she has headed to the mall to buy herself clothes for a special occasion, only to return with nothing but clothes and toys for Cohen. I used to try and convince her to treat herself once in a while, that she deserved it, but she has explained to me that these things are a treat, her son’s happiness is her own. At other times, when money is more scarce, Kim will go to her parent's parking garage and return the bottles she finds in the recycling; whatever it takes to give her son a chance for a normal and loving childhood. Not once, not ever, have I heard an expression of regret of the choices she has made, or impatience at the fact that she has had to put her dreams and aspirations on hold while she devotes all her time and all her self to her son.
I didn't quite know what motherhood was until I met Kim. I had forgotten that that kind of love and courage could exist in an everyday setting. It has turned this ordinary girl into an extraordinary force. To look at Kimberly and Cohen together is to stare love in the face. It's daunting sometimes.

I think my mom is special
To My Mother      By Kayleigha
Once I was sad and lonely,
I walked an empty road,
Then you appeared before me,
And through rain clouds the sun showed.

The raindrops, you cleared away,
You let in all the sun,
And sent me once more out to play,
Again with everyone.

When I wanted to hide,
And never go back out,
In you did I confide,
But you did not let me pout.

To others did you help me reach,
And never shied away,
You are the wave on sunny beach,
Each and every day.

For when I feel ignored and lost,
You rise up on the shore,
And clear the junk that others left,
Until there is no more.

I clung to you when I was sad,
And had not the strength to fight,
I yelled at you when I was mad,
Yet you held me tight.

I know you'll always be there,
And forever I'll love you.
For showing that you care,
And for being ever true.

I Love Her      By Bryce
My mom is so awesome. Every morning she wakes up and helps me get ready for school. Everyday she tells me she loves me which always makes me happy. Any questions I ask her, she will always have an answer to. She is very, very funny and and is really laid back. The little things she does for me totally changes my life, from being supportive to cooking me supper. I couldnt live without her.
A Priceless Mom      By Alexandria Simmsgeiger
A Priceless Mom

How can I describe all of the wonderful things about my mom in one letter? I simply cannot. She is an amazing, accomplished woman whom God has blessed greatly. There is not enough in this world to recognize all the qualities she holds. Even "queen" doesn’t quite sum it up. She is more than a queen; she is my mom.

All my life my mom has been making constant sacrifices to show her love for me. As a kid, I never realized or recognized it; I took it for granted but only because it was necessary for me to grow up into a healthy human being. My mom realized that her unconditional love was absolutely necessary to create a healthy family. Without her love and sacrifices I do not know where we would be today.

From diapers to tantrums; from disciplining to "Are we there yet?" she has stood by my side through the thick and thin. Her love started out strong and has continued through my growing years. It has never failed or even taken a break. When I was little, she would put me in every single type of unique class that she could think of. She put me in horseback riding, teakwondo, art lessons, ballet, voice lessons, diving, swimming, surfing lessons, dance, cheer and a variety of sports just so that I could be introduced to different aspects of the world in order to help to secure my future. Well, it paid off for she helped me to find and nurture my passion: the stage and acting. Without her help, I would probably be one of the common teenagers of today who go home everyday after school not knowing what they are going to do with their lives. I can’t express enough my gratitude for her drive.

Her energy and ambition throughout the day with all of its challenges astounds me. She can run a business (while working alongside her husband), deal with my sister’s and my adolescent fits, chauffeur us to every city in Orange County, get all of the chores and errands run, call numerous people on her cell phone during all of this, and cook all of the meals. Her persistence never ends. I do not know many women who can do all of this alone. Just the fact that she helps my dad run their business alongside being a housewife is mind-boggling. And, although I thought I hated her at the time, I now appreciate her strict rules and disciplinary actions that she did in order to help me grow. I admit, I didn’t help to give her peace in her life and every once in a while it occurs again, but now that I look back on it I see only her love that was shown through it all. I have caused her pain and in return she has shown me love and care. How can I ever repay her for that? That is why there is nothing in this world that can express how wonderful my mother is.

You say what has my mother done to deserve queen for a day? Well she deserves more than queen for a day. She deserves the world, but first and foremost, the love that I hope one day I can equate to the love she showed me. I am still very young, and I know that I won’t agree with what I am saying right now during one of my fits, but in the end the truth will shine. My mother is better than a queen, for, unlike a queen, she has shown an everlasting abundance of love. She will always be the most beautiful, young, spirited, gifted, caring, amazing, generous, and loving queen to me. I know I will never be able to show how thankful I am to her for all that she has done for me. All I can say is that from the bottom of my heart: Mom, I love you.

Living Faith      By Tracy Swager
My mother lives an example of a faithful life for me. She showed me faith in action as I grew up. Now that I have my own children, I know how hard that is! Thanks Mom!
Mom of love      By Katherine
My mother is special to many people. She is special not just because she has given birth to 10 children, but because of her kind heart. She has room in her heart to love her husband, friends, and all of her family. My mother demonstrates a kind heart and loving attitude each day, through the joys of having children to the challenges of disease. She is forgiving, compassionate and humble in all that she does. As the 2nd oldest of her 10 kids, I have seen it. She realizes that meterialistic gifts will not last for long, but memories and love endure forever.
You’ll always be there for me      By Mrs. Mala Miranda
Dear Mom,

I know you’ll always be there for me.

You’re there to share my triumphs,
As well as my traumas and sorrows,
And also my victories and joys.

You’re there with a smile when I need to be cheered,
With a strong shoulder when I need some comfort,
And with a loving hand when I need your help.

You give with your entire mind, body & soul,
With all the love you have to share,
And you're always there, whenever & wherever I may need you.

Thank you for being my Mom.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

With lots of love from Mala
I Appreciate All She Has Done For Me      By Sarah
My mommy is one of a kind. Her name is Charlene. I really appreciate all that she has done for me and my brother. She has spent lots and lots of money on us and not on her self. I try hard to be just like her, kind, loving, caring, and an all around mom. My dream when I’m older is to be just like her. Then my kids will go grow up being respectful to elders and children. I love my mom so much and I would like to give her a gift that will make her happy. I know that even if I make a card for her she will knows that I make it from love. She also knows that it comes from my heart. That is why my mom should deserve this special award.

The "OTHER MOTHER THERESA"      By charlene deprophetis
My Mother is a very special person to alot of people not just to her 4 children. There are so many people she helps every day. She never has an unkind word to say about anyone and will find something good even in everyone. She is always picking up strangers and giving people rides to the grocery store or to drs. appointments. We worry about her but she will not change. I think God truly watches over her and puts her in the path of truly desperate people. She met a blind couple a few years ago who have three children. They had no family support. My Mother is like a Grandmother to the kids and is always helping them out whether it be buying food, taking the kids to activities or just taking them out to have fun. She has 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and each one has felt they were her favorite. She is so generous and kind. I am truly blessed that she taught me to give back in life and don't ever put yourself first. She has a heart of gold and is very loved by many.
mom's alphabet      By kate
My mom means the world and more to me. She is my best friend; someone I can always laugh with, cry with, and talk to about everything. She is always there for me when I need her, and she is always thrilled to be there. She has sacrificed over fifteen years of her life to teach me how to survive and how to grow up to be a great person like her, and I'm sure she will willingly devote more years to come. She has taught me everything there is to life, but most importantly she has taught me to love. I think it is about time I showed my mom how well I have learned from her. I want my mom to know what an excellent job she has done raising two children, and how grateful I am for everything she has done. However, my mom is not only an amazing mother; she is the greatest person on Earth. She is sensitive over other people’s feelings and thoughts, and always does the right thing. She is the most selfless person you could meet; she never wants anything for herself but wants others to be happy. She has so many personalities which she shows everyday at work, at home, and in public, that there are too many to list. But I can think of at least one important characteristic for every word of the alphabet:
Adored
Beautiful
Compassionate
Dedicated
Exquisite
Forgiving
Graceful
Heavenly
Inspiring
Jolly
Kind
Loving
Majestic
Needed
Optimistic
Passionate
Queen
Rare
Special

Unique
Valorous
Warm-hearted
eXtraordinary
Young
Zealous
I am so proud that the wonderful woman with all this is my mom! If I could I would give her the world and everything in it. I don’t know if I could have made it this far without her by my side. We went through some hard times and I could not have got through them without her hearty and comforting presence and her kind word. My mom is special to me and nothing could take her away or replace her. There is only one mom and she deserves this day, the day I say, “Happy Mother’s Day, I love you more than the world!”
Mom's adventure      By Hannah
My mom has sacrificed a lot for me and my brother shane!Mom got devorced from my father almost three years ago and married her high school sweet heart. We ended up moving all the way across the country to live, so that his kids (meagan, ansley, micheal) could stay where they grew up. She sacrificed her time, and pacience for the five kids in our family and always lends a helping hand. Its been a two hard years away from family but she has maintained. We have now moved back to our home state and are waiting for things to settle down. My mother never gives up and will probably never stop being the wonderful daring mother she is!
she really deserves this!

Sacrifice      By Lee English
The reason I think my mom is special because when she had me and my twin sister and my brother my dad left when we was only 2 years old. She found a man named Cornell and in 2001 they got married and it was beutiful. 4 years later he got caught cheating on her. Now we are living in a 3 bedroom house with our grandparents. She sleeps on the bottom bed because we have bunk beds and she sleeps with my brother on the top bed.
She wish she had a house so we have our own room. But she could not afford it. My mom try to raise us like our big sister Nicole. She go to Church almost every day to pray fora house and a great husband to be there for her amd the kids. She is a life savior to us. SO PLEASE CHOOSE OUR MOM FOR THIS CONTEST!!!! Also she is a nice loving mom so please choose her!
MY EXTRAORDINARY MOTHER      By Joyce Lacey
My mother is the most extraordinary woman I know! She is not only an outstanding mother, but a true friend! God truly has blessed me. She volunteers hundreds of hours each week to help worthy causes, such a MDA, the MS Society, the American Cancer Society, Union Gospel Mission, the Salvation Army and the American Legion Auxiliary! She is one in a trillion! When I was born, the doctors did not think she would live through the pregnancy. Yet, she was willing to give up her life that I might live. Her strong faith and will to live pulled her through, with help from her mother, my grandmother, who watched over me after I was born.
Later in life, when I became confined to a wheelchair. It was my wonderful mother who inspired me to go on and helped me to realize the importance of living every day to the fullest! She is an inspiration to all those whose lives she touches! I thank God for her every day!

i love mom because she takes care of me ;feed me;buy all my stuff. and she made me have a good life.
My special Mother      By Tatiana
My mother is special to me because of the ways she took care of me in hard time and she put me before everyone else when I was born because I was her first child and now I look back at that and think woo she really did care about me. Now I'm 13 and my mother still loves me the way she did when I was born and I'm thankful she was my mother because I have friends who mother's just don't care and I feel really bad for them because I feel everyone deserves a mother and a good mother for that matter. So every mother's day I make sure I get my mom something that she really want because she gave me something I really wanted and that was a mother who cared. So this Mother's day I decided to tell everyone about my wonderful mother. If all the mother's in the world were like her this would be a war free country and no one would be hurt or killed from war because I feel really bad when I hear mother's on t.v. crying because their son or daughter died. Thats why I took the time to tell you about my mother. The End.
I Love You Forever...Mom.      By Denise Johnny
I never appreciated my mother for the longest time, and well I just wanted nothing to do with her. I was in and out of foster homes most of my life and I always felt very lost.
I was the blacksheep of my family, and never thought my mother ever cared. I was in and out of school until I finally graduated when I was 21 years old, and 5 months pregnant.
My mother was more involved in her alcohol then she was in her own family, and I thought that was unfair.
Little did I know she was just as hurt lost as I was and much more. She was a single mother, who worked very hard to provide us with our food and clothing. She even went to school out of town to get educated to get a better job to support us with everything possible.
My mother is special because she is everything she is the women who gave me life, and so much more. When I think that I have no respect for her and what we could have had is over that is just not true.
She is there for me now when I need her the most, she is now a grandmother to my son and shows us in her own way that she loves and cares for us both.
Now, as a single mother I see how through her eyes the hardships and how my focus can run off track just the same.
When I decided to leave my home town to begin a new life with my son, my mom was there. She encouraged and helped me fundraise to make enough travelling money and food money to get to where I am now.
I finally accomplished part of my dream and there she is once again; she going to be there for me. I was so pround and cried happy tears and she was by the phone waiting for me.
She listen's to me when I cry and doesn't try to give me advice , but tells me she loves me.
She was never able to tell me she loved me before, it was the hardest thing for her to do and now that she does it she makes my day, and she is my whole world. I love her so much.
I asked my mom for forgiveness and she gave it to me willingly and even though it seems like I just forgave her, it feels like I have known her all my life.
My mother is so, so, so special to me, because even when I thought she was never there, she was always there and I just want everyone to know that I Love You Forever, MOM.

My Unsung Hero      By Donna Cox
Born in 1934, my mother was the first child of a poor immigrant couple, struggling through the depression years. At the age of nine, mom was run over by a trnsport truck, resulting in stunted growth, brain damage and the loss of use of her left arm. The mental and physical trauma of this event affected her socially and emotionally for the rest of her life. It grew increasingly difficult for her to complete her schooling. She was a beautiful young woman at the age of sixteen, and became a local beauty queen. At nineteen she married and had two daughters. She was left to raise my sister and I alone. She faced many hardships, years of discrimination and unemployability. She became an avid reader and completed an Animal Sciences course through correspondence, as well as some Art courses. She lived alone most of her life in North Vancouver, dedicating her life to raising her daughters the best she could, and helping family with meals and housework. She was determined to prove that she could be independent and do everything for herself despite her disabilities. At the age of 72, she now is facing failing health and constant pain. She continues to hold her head up high, maintaining a positive attitude, keeping active with new found friends in the building complex where she lives in Burnaby. She helps others, by taking them to doctor appointments, and shopping. She has been an inspiration to my sister and I who love her dearly, and see that her life has been one of an unsung hero. She has never received any formal recognition for the good deeds she has done, or the things she has achieved. I believe she deserves a memorable Mother's Day Gift.
I have the GREATEST MOM!!      By Carol Naus
I know you get a million sob stories this time of year, but I really hope this one will stand out. I am a 33 year old Mother of almost 2, so I know the sacrafices and challenges a mother faces, but my mom has had more than her fair share. She married young and had 3 children with her husband who subsequently left her to raise the 3 kids. With no help and no family around, she moved us all from Ohio to California to make a life for us. Things were very hard and she often had to work 2 jobs. Not leaving her much time to see the children she loved so much. Years passed and we all grew up, and life as it does so often, threw her a curve. She was laid off her job in the Aerospace industry. She had to move in with her oldest daughter. There she satyed for 5 years, helping to raise her beloved grand daughter!! Although this was fulfilling, she needed to get a sense of her self back. So she took a job at Target, got her own place and WHAM! Her oldest sister was stricken with breast cancer, unfortunately it was diagnosed to late and we lost her last year. Again life throws a curve. My mother had a stroke in April of last year. We are so blessed to have her with us still. She went back to work a near miraculous 4 months after the stroke, with some residual weakness, but a strong will to survive!! My mom has shown us that faith, will power, and hard work can get you through anything. I would love for my mother to be recognized for all she has given to me and my 2 sisters all these years!!
Thank You for the opportunity to share my story.

a Mother like mine...      By Chrissy
The entire world needs a mother like mine...
Because if they did, all the children in our world would be raised...to not fight, to listen well to others, to see a possitive in all the negatives, and to live your life to it's fullest because it's way too short.

My mom has raised 3 children (along with my dad): myself, 21, my sister, 23, and my brother, 16. She has done a fantastic job, as many onlookers tell her. People often ask advice from her on how to raise their children. We respect our mom and she gives us the same respect back!

My sister moved out to Winnipeg 3 years ago, and I moved out maybe 2 months ago (although we both would stay living with her untill we were 40, if at all possible :) ) She always sends my sister little "care packages" via mail, and for me, still makes the same amount at dinner time so she can give me left-overs:) love that home-made cooking!!

My mom is a very self-less person, she would do anything for anyone at anytime! She teaches people lessons without even knowing she's doing so, she is such a strong person and I look up to her greatly! She desirves the wold and I wish I could give it to her!
I would like to wish her a very Happy Mother's Day, and hope I can raise my children as well as she raised her own.

My Wonderful Mother      By Amber Gain
Throughout my life my mother has constantly been telling me how much she loves me and how much she enjoys being a mom. I never really understood until recently. I am not 23 years old and married and just had my first child. I now understand how my mother could truly mean all this. My mother really is the best. She is a huge inspiration on me and how I have become the mother I am.
My Mother is a Walking Miracle      By Dawn Jensen
In 1982, a mother, Donna Jensen, of four boys and one girl becomes terribly ill with a brain tumor. My mother and father continually fought for my mothers‘ life. They fell into financial hardship, high chances of her dieing, and constant reoccurrence of the tumor. Life for this family was above and beyond the simple life. But Donna just kept on stepping through all these difficult times, because she knew God wasn’t going to take her anytime soon. She went through surgery after surgery for the brain tumor, had radiation, was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease, and then Diabetes Insipidus. My mother was in a constant battle with staying away from the death grip, but Godly miracles were always there to save her. She was a wife, a mother of five, a cleaning lady, a caterer, and took care of all the chores within the household. My mom is still alive today and still continues to trust in the Lord to keep her alive until we do not need her anymore. The Lord promised her this request and is fulfilling His promise.

"MOTHER",the word itself tells that she is god to all human beings as she is the creature of the universe. I always feel that "KISS THE FEET OF YOUR MOTHER SUCCESS WILL KISS YOUR FEET".I know that my mother is the best mother in the world.she is solely responsible for my success. For my Msc. i had to go to Bangalore and i had to stay in the hostel. that was my first experiance in the hostel. environment was new, food was bad and could not stay in the hostel atall. she used to call me thrice a day-she used to wake me up in the morning, call me in the afternoon and enquire whether i had my lunch, and call me at night to wake me up to study late nights.our telephone bills crossed Rs.15000 per month. the result is that i secure university 2nd rank. she is my "everything".what more can i say but one word to god"thank u".
Only now I realize      By Jamie Grimm
It wasn't until I had children of my own that I realized how selfless, patient, understanding, but mostly underappreciated my mom is. She lost her own mother at the age of 15 and was not blessed with all of the memories that our time together has given and taught me.
Growing up she baby-sat so that she could stay home with us. I always volunteered her to drive for field trips, and she never complained and was always there. I played sports all year round for as long as I can remember, and she was always there to cheer me on, or to cart us from one place to the next. She let us try and participate in anything we were interested in, never putting boundaries on our abilities. Our home was always open for the neighborhood kids who also called her mom, and she took care of them like her own children as well. She always had a positive spin for all of my problems and never judged me for my mistakes, or what I considered my failures. She was there for my first love and heartbreak, always siding with me, my awards and disappointments, now matter how great or small, and my highs and my lows, no matter how invincible I felt or how much I wanted to give up on myself. She never questioned my abilities and always pushed me to be my best. I remember rebelling, being hateful and sneaking out so that she would stay up until all hours of the morning waiting for me to return. After arguing with her that she didn't understand and not realizing how much it killed her inside to sit in the house thinking about the worst possible scenarios, she would always look at me with tear filled eyes and tell me she still loved me. She didn't like me very much at that time, but she would always love me.
Growing up she would do without so that we were well taken care of. If money was tight she would find ways to have the most fun for free. She sacrificed everything when she made my father leave due to an alcohol problem to keep us safe, but was forgiving and stood by him through his recovery. She has never let me down, and I am distraught at thoughts of what I would ever do if I lost her.
I danced with my mother at my wedding because I wouldn't have been where I am without her. The way she makes my children's arms shoot up into the air as they run for her with so much love and life in their eyes, fills my heart with warmth. The way she is still always here when I need to share anything, great or small, good or bad, makes me feel blessed to have her in my life.
I remember shortly after I came home with my first daughter from the hospital, rocking her in her room and staring at her face while she slept. I was overcome with this never before felt love that was so rich and deep it made my heart ache and my throat and chest tighten. At the same time I cried because it was then that I realized how much love my own mother had for me. I called her up and told her how sorry I was for every horrible and mean thing I ever said and did, because I never realized how much I meant to her, or how much what I did had probably hurt her. Many people doubt the love another person shares, but at that moment I realized no one ever had or ever could love me that much.
My Supporter      By Kerra Li
One of the most important people in my life would definitely be Yanli Cui. She is the one I go to with all of my problems, my best friend, my supporter, my comforter, my confidant, my hero, my mentor, but above all, my mother.. I know it is a cliché to say that she is the best mother in the world, but that is the only phrase fit to describe my mother, the most loving, caring, and selfless person I have ever known. I am proud and honored to call her my mother.
When I was only seven years old, my mother left her homeland of China, and arrived in the unfamiliar land of America, the land of opportunities, leaving behind my father and me, in hopes of setting up a successful future for us. She left the comfort of our home in China, the friends and family she adored, and the job that she loved. Leaving everything she’d ever know, she arrived in America. She did not become instantly successful. While holding down a job as a teacher’s assistant, she enrolled as a full-time student. She studied diligently, and received high marks on all of her courses. At times, her living conditions may have been considered less than desirable, yet she never gave up hope. Because she knew that she had to endure the toil, in order to bring her husband and daughter to the United States. While my mother was in America, my father landed a job in Singapore; he moved there shortly after my mom left for America. Our family of three separated and lived in three different countries for almost two years. While my mother was gone, I laid in my bed, countless sleepless nights, thinking about her, and how I missed having her around. I found comfort in knowing that at nights, we are both staring up at the same moon. Every week, we talked on the telephone, and wrote each other letters I always promised her that I wouldn't cry, because she didn't like crying. She sent pictures and money, and made sure that I was always happy and got everything I needed and wanted. While living without her, I truly began to appreciate her. After 2 years of separation, my family was finally reunited in America.
My mom's whole life revolved around the family that she loved dearly. She has sacrificed so much, and strived to provide our family with all the necessities. She always placed the needs of her family before her own, and never had time to slow down, and reward herself for her hard work and dedication. She gave so much without ever expecting anything in return.
I witnessed my mom struggle with balancing her job as a college teacher and maintaining our household. She strived to provide her students with the best education and adored every one of them. She took pride in her work and cared for every one of her students. I have never heard her complain. After coming home from a long day of work, she cares about every detail I have to share with her about my day. My mother never hesitated to drop everything and rush to my aid when I needed help. She did all this with a beautiful, heart-warming smile on her face.
My mother is a strong, sophisticated, and well-spoken woman. My mom is the person who has had the most impact on my life. The determination and perseverance never ceased to amaze me. My mother is my main supporter, the driving force behind the person that I am today. I will forever be grateful to her, my mom.
Amazing      By Katrina Collins
My mom deserves a break because she never rests. When I went off to college, she started working part time to help pay for the expenses. When my son was born she quit her job to take care of my little one as I was not ready for daycare life. She continues to watch him still when he is not in school and at five you must have the energy to keep up. At 64 she is amazing. She never treats herself and puts her family first. I would love to see my mom to be able to relax.
Every moment is a special moment      By Ali Arlt
My moms an educator, a business owner, and a wife, but most importantly a mother. My moms a sweet, kindhearted, loving, confident, gentile, encouraging, and a good listener. My moms everything a mom could ever hope to be and more. She lights up my day just by smiling. Every day I see the love and compassion she shows towards my family. I have a huge family and nothing makes her happier than to see everyone together laughing and talking. My moms great at multitasking, she once made Jennie pants for my whole chorus in one night and still had time to help my little brother with his homework. I'm not saying she's perfect, no one's perfect, althought i'd say she's very close. If I had to describe my mom in one word it would be beautiful. She's beautiful in every way shape and form, on the inside and out. She's the morning when you wake up and see snow for the first time. She's the afternoon when you're eating watermelon on the back porch. She's the night when the cool breeze blows your hair back. She's my world, my everything, and every moment is a special moment. I love her and want her to have the best mothers day!
MY MOMMY IS MY HERO      By CYDNI MILLER
MY MOM IS THE GREATEST. MY MOM HAS SACRIFICED HER SO MUCH TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED AND MOST OF THE TIME GOES WITHOUT HER NEEDS BECAUSE OF IT. SHE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR ME WHEN I HAVE A PROBLEM. YOU COULD SAY THAT SHE IS MY BEST FRIEND. I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE DOES EVERYTHING BUT SHE IS ABLE TO PULL OFF ANYTHING. SHE HAS BEEN PTA PRESIDENT, A GIRL SCOUT TROOP LEADER FOR 5 TROOPS, SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, VOLUNTEER COUNSELOR AND MOM TO 4 KIDS ALL AT THE SAME TIME. SHE DOESN'T HEAR THANK YOU VERY MUCH BUT THAT DOESN'T STOP HER. SHE HAS HELPED FAMILIES FOR CHRISTMAS, HELPED FEED PEOPLE ON THE STREET AND EVEN HAS TIME TO HELP OTHER YOUTH IN OUR COMMUNITY. SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH A LOT BECAUSE OF HER HEALTH, BUT THAT DOESN’T STOP HER. MY MOM JUST KEEPS SERVING. THROUGH ALL SHE HAS DONE, SHE HAS TAUGHT ME TO BE A BETTER PERSON. I KNOW THAT WHEN I GROW UP, I WILL BE ABLE TO DO IT ALL BECAUSE MY MOM TELLS ME THAT I CAN DO ANYTHING AS LONG AS I WORK HARD AND LOVE TO SERVE. AS YOU CAN SEE THIS IS WHY MY MOM IS A HERO.
Special Year      By Kimberly Thompson
My MOM is real special. She is a real strong person and has a big heart, actually a heart of gold.
I am real lucky that my mom and my best friend is still with our family today. She came within a week of dying from medical problems. She has 7 children and 13 grandchildren. Mom works 40 hours a week out of the home, but she always finds time for her family. She is there to help when called upon by children or the grandchildren. Yeah, mom gives her opinion alot she never holds anything back. She doesn't care if it makes us mad or not. I learned that I should had listened to her more when I was growing up. Her opinion and suggestions did make sense. My mom has made me a better mom to my sons. I learned alot from her. I listen her now and have learned how fortunate I am to still have my MOM with me for this Mother's Day and hopefully many more.
Love you Mom,
Kimberly

Miracle Mom      By Christy
My mother should be a saint! She is the person who anyone can call on and she will be there, no matter when it is. She is the one to count on through thick and thin. She is not only a mom she is a wife and a grandmother too. I am so blessed to have a mother like her. She will bend over backwards just to help someone out. She helps so many other people she has no time to do anything nice for herself. The day in the life of my mom, she gets up gets ready to go mow an average of 6 yards per day and then comes home and has another job to go to from 3-9 and on top of that she is always willing to take time to spend with her two grandchildren. She is wonderful and we all love her very much.
Mom.... I hope you know I love you!      By Jenna Seguin
Hi my name is Jenna, and my mom is special to me... not because she comforts me when I get hurt or because she tells me I'm a winner even though I lost. No, my mother is special to me because it's her name I cry out for when no ones there and it's her who I want to shear my day with.
Every time i feel scard or alone I cry out the words "I want mommy! I want mommy". My friends usally get tired of me repeating my self about something I'm excited to do but my mom likes to hear it over and over again.
A teacher once told me love isn't just saying "I love you" it's willing to do whatever would make that person happy, because when their happy your happy and you both feel loved. So this is why I'm writting this for my mom, because I love her and I feel she would be happy that I wrote this for her.
One Amazing Woman      By Carly Cleaver
My mom is so giving, loving, patient and kind. She has been the best mom that my brother and I could have ever asked for. She has given up so much in her life, so that we may have what we desire, and I would love for her to know ho wmuch we love and appreciate her. I became a mother when I was 15. My daughter is blind and permanently disabled. I could not make it without the support and undying love of my mother. She has given up her job, so that she can be my daughter's aide at school, she has babysat for me so I can finish college. I am now in a Master's Program and she is still supporting and helping me with my daughter. My mom has given up so much for me, and my daughter, so that I may live my dreams of being a teacher. I tell my mom Thank you everyday, and try to show her that I appreciate everything that she does for me, but I would like her to know that I want everyone to know how great she is. For I would not be the mother, student, teacher, or daughter that I am today, if my mom had not taught me how to live my life to the fullest. I hope that she knows how grateful that I am for her, and how wonderful that I think she is. I love you MOM you are the BEST!
No Complaints      By Esti
My mother is an amazing woman. She has two children. My brother who is nineteen, and me, 15. She is the youngest of 5 children. Her father passed away when she was in her 20's and years after that, my grandmother contracted cancer. Then she fell and became paralyzed from the waist down. My mother took on the responsibility of visiting her daily and taking care of her.

Then we moved to Florida so she could teach and she had to leave my grandmother and her best friend, my aunt. She was very homesick and missed pennsylvania a lot. My 8th grade year y mother got a call from the doctors saying my grandmother was going to die. Instantly my mother got a ticket and flew up to be with her.

But instead of dying my grandmother got better. This happened many times in the course of two years. However, these past few months have been the hardest for her. My brother, in college now, has had some problems with depression and loneliness and has struggled with God a lot. My mom worries about him constantly.

My father has recently had an injury of the neck and shoulder and has been in a lot of pain. So he has been in and out of work and doctors appointments for awhile. My mother has had to make special adjustments for him.

My grandmother has grown steadily worse. So recently my mother has flon to Pennsylvania to spend the last days of my grandma's life with her. Then on the morning of May 7th, my grandma died.

Though My mother herself is suffering she has been given the majority of the work dealing with the funeral and the clean up. My mother is hard working and long suffering. She has been put through much and takes litle. Without her my family would fall apart.
loss      By Crystal
Hello, my name is Crystal and I am the oldest of three daughters. My mother is the most sacrificing person I know. She is non-materialistic and always ever-giving. She has gone without for so long and I would like to make her feel as wonderful as she makes us feel.
My mom has worked since she was 14 with her mother. She has never had the chance to be pampered. My mom and dad never had a wedding or a honeymoon. They have never gone to some exotic place much less traveled.
My mom left her family and friends to move out to the country so that my younger sisters would have a safer place to grow up. She works part time for a card company and rarely gets out of the house. She buys everyone else new clothes and never any for herself. Dinner is always ready at 5 and she does almost all the household chores on their 2 acre property. She feeds 5 people and 6 pets every night. Actually, she has adopted several stray animals that come to the house (over 30 animals from pigs to dogs to cats to gerbils to rabbits).

A few years ago she had a near death due to a double case of pneumonia. She also was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer, in which the doctors successfully removed all of the cancer. We all hope and pray that it will not return. Needless to say, the expectancy rate for women in my family is not very old. I would like to give to my mother while she is still around. We watched the movie Family Stone last weekend; it was difficult to watch knowing that in due time I would not have my mother with me, much less to see her grandchildren grow.

I would love my mother to have a relaxing day, a clean house a trip to an exotic land. She would be happy with a homemade card, but I want her to be pampered. She has lived a hard life and her time is due to be honored.
How special my mom is      By Carolyn Le
My mom is a special women, she does everything for us, but never for her self. She had 5 girls of her own, and then took her brothers three kids in, 1- girl, and two boys. She was working, cooking, cleaning, and running us to where ever doctor appt, and ect. She had to quiet her job, she started having to much stress, and it was very bad for her heart, so she has now quit her job, there are still 7 of us at home. My mom is always there for me, we talk, when need friend she is there, evens can talk to her about anything, some things she does not want to know. My mom had tooken the other thre in two years ago, and now she would like to adopt them. We only have a four bed room house and with 7 kids, and two adults its hard, but my mom would bend over backwards for us, and then to have to start all over raising more kids, everyone is always saying she is a blessing to have done all she has done for us, she keeps are rooms clean and has supper waiting when we get home. I wish I could get her something special this year, but money is tight for us, and my mom deserves a blessing just for her. Thank you very much. Carolyn Le
Strength      By Donna Nicole Leis
Mother's Day is a day about showing and expressing our love and grattitude for our mothers'. However just one day a year for the rest of my life is not enough for me to show my mother what she means to me.

All of my childhood it has just been my mother and I. Growing up i depended on her not just for my physical needs, but emotionally as well. She is all i have, and im all she had. She had to be the mother and father of my life. But little does she know that she was also my sister, and my true best friend.

My mother has always made sure i had everything i needed, not always everything i wanted, but what i needed to be who i am today. My mothers strength and encouragement got me through anything, childhood..highschool. But not only does she support me, she is the lifeline of our entire family.

My Grandmother is legally blind and now has adopted 4 children, of which are all under the age of 4. Not to mention she fosters children in need too. But she doesnt do it alone, of course my grandfather helps, but my mom is there to hold it together. Because of the adoptions much of my family began to seperate, loose contact.
My mother is always there for everyone. Doing what she can to help.

My mother is now 40 years old and has never really been allowed to grow up. Though my grandparents try they do not realize the stresses my family is placing on my mom. But if working as a farm hand and helping my grandmother daily isnt enough stress, i added to the pile.

I joined the United States Army. I enlisted 2 days after i graduated high school. I have just recently been deployed to Iraq. My mother tells me that she is proud of me, but i know that it hurts her by me not being there with her. Although i know i have made a good decision by enlisting, sometimes i wish i could be home with her.

However hurt or scared that i am in iraq right now, she doesnt let me see it. She is the only strength i wil ever need. Her love and hope keep me going every night. I am thankful every morning that i am able to wake up one day closer to seeing her again.

If i did not have my mother i would be lost, and would have no want to even return. I would not be who i am today with out her. Every chance i get to show her how much she means to me i take it.

I know how special she is, but i want others to know. I want her to feel how special of a mom she is.

My angel      By ann marie aylward
I would never know where to start with my mom. I always remember growing up and my friends telling me how lucky I was. Not only was my mom able to manage finding time to appear at every one of her four childrens events, but she more importantly listened. Listened....not heard what I said and told me how to resolve it...she listened, asked me what I thought I should do...and then told me she would be there should I succeed or fall. When I told her I needed her, she was there. When I told her I needed space...she gave me time to think it through. When I told her I was sad..she supported me to lift myself up. When I told her I was happy...she celebrated with me. She respected who I was and that I was capable to be a smart and successful person. It amazes me that although I am now an adult, a mom myself, my mother has never faltered in being there for me. She is the same person I adored as an adolescent..only wiser. And for what she gave me, I could never repay her. I am proud of the strong woman my mother helped to mold. I would never desert the part of her she gave me. It is that I will treasure for the rest of my life. It is that which I strive to be.
A mom that never quitzz      By Kaitlin

My Mom      By Larry Silkey
Here's a story I would like for you to hear, a story of a mom that's such a dear.
She spent her life raising her girl and boy, which filled her heart with so much joy!
If my homework was more than I could do,
mom was there to give me some clues.
If I had a recital for ballet or dance,
mom was there to watch me prance.
If I needed her in the middle of the night,
she was there and would stay til first light.
When I turned sixteen and wanted to learn to drive, mom held on tight and tried not to cry.
So when I had kids and a granny she became, she started all over again watching dance and ballgames. I always thought she must have been bored, but not my mom, her grandkids she adored!
Mom worked so hard to give to me, lots of good memories, it's plain to see.
So when I married I wanted my wife to be, exactly like the woman that had raised me.
My Mother, Our Angel      By Michael Brennen
My mom is truly the GREATEST MOM anyone could ever ask for. A couple of years ago my dad was involved in a serious motorcycle accident and it left him in the hospital for over 6 months. During that time my mom was totally unselfish and helped cater to my dads physical needs and my emotional needs. At the time I had no idea what it must have been like to have the thought of losing your husband running through your head. But my mom stayed at his bedside as much as she could while helping me along as well. My mom didn’t have much time for herself between frequent visits to the hospital and taking me to baseball games, but some how she managed with out showing any signs of stress or discomfort. Now almost ten years later my dad has mad an unbelievable recovery and I know that it is not a coincidence. I really believe my mom is an angel, and I just want everyone to know how great she is.
The Woman who gave up everything for me      By Jaime Lynn Currie
My Mom is the most incredible woman in the world and definatley deserves a special Mother's Day Gift, but I can not afford to get her anything close to what she deserves. When I was one years old, my father began beating my mother, and although she was scared and alone, she had the courage to leave him and file for divorce. My father never paid his child support and my mom gave up all of her dreams for me. She raised me as a single mother and although she wore the same clothes week after week and never spent any money on herself, I was given every advantage, dance lessons, piano lessons, skating lessons, swimming lessons. She lived in slums and drove a broken down 20 year old car, but that car always got us everywhere! She put all of her time every night of every week of her life into me and my success. Now that I am a 27 year old University student working towards my third degree, I realize that nothing I have accomplished in life would have been possible without all of her love, support and sacrifice! Seven years of university (and seven years of OSAP) leaves me a poor and in debt girl however, and I can certainly not afford to get her the type of mother's day gift that she deserves!
Please, give my mom, Wendy Currie of Guelph, Ontario the Ultimate Mother's Day Gift! She certainly deserves it! I love my mommy!

A VERY Special Mom      By Kayley Smith
My mom is so special to my sisters and me. She gives everything for us and there is nothing she wouldnt do to please us.
Not only does she drive my two sisters and I around, but if any of my friends are ever in need of a ride because they are in an uncomfortable situation she is always willing to help, even if it is four in the morning.
My mom works at a non profitable organization and she gets phone call 24-7. Whenever any of her staff or clients are having a hard time they no that they can always talk to my mom.
I really think my mom deserves something special because she is very special to me.
Thank you, Kayley

But like a true mom always made sure I learnt a lesson from it! I ve pushed all her bottons and still she loves me. My mother lives her life for my brothers and I. She drops me off dinner when I call her hungry because I forgot my lunch at home. shes always supportive with all my decisions even if she thinks Im a little crazy for doing it. My mom passed on her love and wisdom to someone in the world who needed her, Me. And I would like to repay her for that.
What Mother's Are For      By Sandy Davis
My mom is so special because she gave birth to me. My mother was there when I needed her and she never left me for nothing. My mother is the best thing that ever happen to me. Some times I don't appreciate her, but than I look at people without mother's and think to myself. I love my mother for being the best she can be , working about 1 or 2 jobs to get what we need.
What You Taught Me      By Barbara Jackson
Mom
I don’t know where to start to “Thank You” for all the lessons you have taught me. You had three daughters, each one different, and you still gave each one of us what we needed to become who we are. How did you do that?
I know that you have not had the easiest life. You were raised during a time when families worked hard to provide the things that were needed to make a house a home. The one thing I think you learned a lot about during that time was Love, which you gave to each one of us. You learned that love can take care of all our needs. No matter what we encountered in this crazy world, we had Home to come back to even if it was just a place to take a nap, which I did a lot! There was something about taking a nap at “home”. Even though you probably would have preferred me to stay awake and talk to you or help you do something, you let me sleep and rest because you knew that is what “I” needed.
I would imagine that you probably watched me sleep and thought to yourself how “Proud” you were of me. That is something you learned how to do well too. I never felt like you weren’t proud of me, even when I did some things that should have disappointed you. I am sure you can’t even remember any of those things because that is just the way you are. You seem to only remember the good things.
You also have showed so much “Commitment” taking care of your family in good times and tough times. I know you must have learned that having two parents that were together so many years and taking care of each other and their children. I think that somewhere along the way without me knowing it,, you taught me that too. I have been committed to my husband for 30 years now and I had great role models to show me how to do that. I hope that I have done that for my daughter like you did.
One more thing I have noticed about you is your “Empathy” for others. You genuinely hurt when others hurt. You cry when we cry. You worry when we worry, most of the time “more” than we do! You worried when we didn’t want you to worry. You try to make it better in any way you know how. When you can’t make it better, you hurt some more. You wear a big smile when we smile. If you have helped bring that smile back, you take no credit for it.
One last thing that has probably helped me the most, is YOU taught me to “Talk”! You watched me in a crowd and talk to people I didn’t know, and you have said “Where did you learn to do that?” I have tried to figure out when and how you taught me that “Confidence” it takes to do that. I think you must have learned how to do that when you came to a little town called Spavinaw with our dad. You didn’t know anyone and that changed with each person you met. You were “Brave” to come home with him to a place so different than where you had come from. I am sure that people you met wondered how you could be a “Damn Yankee” when you were so “Damn Nice”.
Mom, I just wanted to put my thoughts down on paper so you can read them over and over, because I know I don’t take enough time to say them to you as often as you deserve. I hope my thoughts and love have gone unspoken and you have always known how special you were to me all along. I love you Mom, Barbara
My Hero      By Jessica
My mom is a mother of 4, and I'm the oldest at 16. Yes I do help her out with a lot of things but face it, even teenagers are still kids and can be as annoying and un-useful as possible. I love my mom very much and seeing her driving me to volleyball my brother to school and baseball and basketball and golf and my sisters to soccer and lacross and religion like is was something she just had to do on a daily bases, makes me love her even more. How she wakes up early with me just to make sure I have a good lunch to eat and how she is presently VERY patient with me as she teaches me to drive. I want my mom to have a day off where she can rest her feet, her car and just sit back and relax. I am going to try as hard as I can to keep myself and other 3 siblings out of her hair. My mom is my hero, dedicating her life to her children and her money... umm well that's basically for gas ;)

This is what makes us luv her even more. She tries to give us everything we need and want. She goes way beyond what is expected. She is our ANGEL sent from GOD. And thats why we luv her so much.
Mom is Special      By Jacki Thompson
My Mother is special because not only is she my Mother, she is also my Father and my Best Friend. She put her life on hold for me any time the need arose. She has always been, and forever will be, always there for me. She put her kids first no matter what and it wasn't until after Myself (age 27) and my Brother (age 31) that she finally began giving herself a life of her own. She will always say her kids are her life, and we know we are... but seeing her sharing her time with someone she loves intimately, and finally enjoying a life of her own, is so much more then we could ask for. My Momma is precious. The greatest woman I will ever know and love.
100 Words for Mom      By Kelly Stallings
100 words cannot begin to describe why my mother deserves everything good. Her life has been dedicated to helping others. Feeding a neighborhood kids a hot meal when his family is down on their luck. Fighting and winning the battle to get breakfast provided for kids in school. Sewing a beautiful prom dress for me because “every girl should feel like a princess.” She has never had the chance to go on a vacation or eat at a fancy restaurant Just once in my life; I would like the chance to show her that she is a princess too.

If you have never known anyone before you should know of this one person. She has gone through the earthquake, tornado, and hurricane all toghether and God has allowed her to still be here. She is still in her right mind and will help anyone in need if she can. She is a Godfearing, Strong, Wise, Knowledgeable, Skilled, Multitasked and so many other words. She is peace when others can't find it. The things that she has gone through by her story you will be saying to your self 'I wonder how she did that!' I have asked myself over and over the same thing, but I know that it was by the grace of God. When she enters the room you will know that she was there. The light of her life shines brightly from her heart. She looks like my sister and acts like it too, but she is over the hill. She is a friend and hardworker and at her age you would think oh she looks wrinkled or gray hair everywhere, but she is not and she jumps rope and walks and she definitely keeps a clean house. She loves order and she loves people. My mother is the flower you thought would never bloom. A flower that is pure white in the form of a rose. No other mother can compare for the things of this woman. She is strong and phenomenal and extremely unique. I know for a fact and if I told you her life story you would definitely agree that she is no doubt the greatest blessed woman around. After she has left your presence you will know the LGH is in the House!
She Makes Me Want to be a Better Person      By Andrea
I would like to enter the Mother's Day contest on behalf of my mom, Edith Bertelsen. She is an amazing woman who has undergone an excruciating year. Her husband was diagnosed with colon cancer last year and she unwaveringly cared for him day and night until he passed away in her arms on April 2, 2006. She has shown me over the course of the past year what it means to be a compassionate, strong and loyal woman, which is a lesson that all people need. She has taught me many other lessons as she raised me (on her own), but these lessons I have learned from her this past year I find the most valuable. I want to give her the world to show her how much I love her and I appreciate her. Even in her grief, she is showing me how to be a better woman. She has also taken under her wing her husband's youngest son who is desperately in need of a kind word and someone who understands what he is going through right now after losing his father. Even in the depths of despair, she is willing to help others and do what needs to be done. I can see when I look at her how much she is hurting, but how even helping out her kids (myself and her step-son)just a little bit makes it just a bit better. That is a true mom - someone who is empowered to fight her own battle by seeing the good she showers on those who love her.
What Would I Do Without Her?      By Kayla Cross
It's assignment day and I can't find my project, my favorite pants or my hairbrush. I run downstairs franticly darting from one corner of the house to the other looking for my stuff. My mom stands in the kitchen with this look on her face like "what ARE you doing?" Suddenly my mom turns and hands me my project which she has nicely glued some pictures to, my favorite pants with the button fixed and my hairbrush. Thank god for my mom, otherwise nothing would ever get done around this house.
My Mom      By Kathy Coltrain
My mom is 63 years old. She has always been there for me through bad times and good times. When I needed money she was quick to give it to me, when I needed to talk she was always there to listen, when I needed comforting she was there to cry with me or laugh with me. I know when I hurt she hurt. Now she is sick and I have to be there for her. She has always been there for me and now it is my turn. She doesn't remember everything like she use to. She cann't cook those wonderful meals she did. She still listens and is still there but she also forgets. I love my mom and she deserves to win. We need to celebrate her life because she has done so much for so many. Thanks, Kathy (her daughter

My Friend/My Rock/My Mom      By Sharon Ann Banther
My Mother had once told me "Remember baby girl your friends are like a mirror, they are a reflection of yourself." and she reminded me of that many of times through my younger years. And even as now that i'am a woman with grown daughters of my own. So you see when I look into the mirror not only do i see my Mom. But I hear her as well.I can hear myself asking as i had done many of times "Mom, Is this it ? the way I'll spend rest of my life? It was those times, i most felt at my lowest moments. And I would hear my mom say "Oh NO NO daughter you need to take hold. Mom has such a special way of reminding us how there is a God, nor forget about having faith and how things were all part of Gods plan. And she would repeat just as she did when I was little girl far as back even when she herself was left all alone on her own with four of us kids at such a tender and difficult age. But Mom always with such enthusiasm of how there was going to be a whole new beginning. Mom would always be flooded with many questions and always the one of "Mom how do you always know these things? Did she ever have a way of not letting us forget the older we got the wiser she had got. So you can imagine a very young woman no more than a child herself trying to keep us kids constantly encouraged, to always do our best. Just as proud even when we didn't as long as we kept trying, believing in our goals and never stop dreaming. At the same time she would be critical of our dreams and of our choices but not of trying to impose her own. Where she found the time for all of us, while working two and three jobs. Is still a mystery . Mom still continues to do well at displaying commitment, leadership and such a unique way of making good times good and bad times even better. Always a helping hand to lend along with a sincere heart of kindness. And the best of the best at giving advice , especically when in need and wish not. Does she ever so holds such a gift of being able to make you open your eyes, enables you to see the reality around you. As I continue to search for the perfect words for a wonderful beautiful lady as my Mom. I so realized how i struggle of being able to find enough of words to truely, deeply express all the wonderful, special words to be able to express how much she really means to me. True enough just because she have given both to us four and blessed with four more. Doesn't automatically allow her to carry a proud title as "Mom and Mother". Its something she earned which does take unselfish, many heartaches and not only tears of joy but sadness as well.Years of dedication, acceptance and tough love to do so. So you see even no words couldn't say enough of how Thankful and blessed we are not only from us kids but grand and great grandkids will even tell you so. To have a Mother as our Mom. Who has earned the title and being a postive role model and daring to have such a passion and love for life, for us kids and love ones. So again i ask myself. What do you do? possibily give or maybe say to the upmost respectable fine lady, not only is she my closest and dearest friend and hope. But a Mother anyone would pray to have and a lovely lady anyone would go to great lengths to be near.I pray and truely hope there be comfort with her, especially for her to honesty know she is deeply adored, loved and not only is she my Rock, but appreciated, leader and a surperd example to us all and reflection of many.

The Generosity of a Mother      By Colleen L.
She is a mother, a grandmother, a wife, an aunt, a sister and a friend to all. My mother has always been the kind of person to give so selflessly and be happiest while doing so. She was a teacher up until she retired a few years ago and to this day still misses "her kids." Students adored her and her peers sang her praises. I moved when I was 21 across the country, just a little too soon. My mother got sick and ended up in the hospital just a couple of months after I moved away. She was in the hospital with an illness and ended up staying there for quite a while until the doctors could help her. It was coming close to Christmas and she could not go to do any shopping. A gift from my aunt was to fly me home to spend Christmas with my family. On Christmas morning, I opened the best present I have ever received; from my mom. She called it a "Memory Box." And inside, she had many small pieces of multicoloured construction paper where she had written down a memory she had of me growing up. Tears filled my eyes as I read over her words of proud memories of me and humourous stories from the past. So unselfish is my mother that while she was sick in the hospital, she spent her time writing these memories out just so she would have something special for me for Christmas. I have shared the story of this gift with many people, all with the same reaction - "What an absolutely beautiful sentiment." I have since reciprocated and made her her own memory box. I am also in the process of making one for my best friend as she is making one for me. Another friend is also making one for her mother for Christmas this year. The amazing generosity that has began with my mother, is making it's way around the country. They say "Pay it Forward" and that's exactly what is happening here. The love and appreciation that is my mom, is being shared by others and I couldn't be happier. Now is my chance to thank my mom for being a true inspiration and show her just how special and unique she is. Happy Mother's Day Mom, I love you.

The Greatest Touch of Love from my Mom      By Keytorri Partlow
In life, our lives are touched by certain people because of certain events. When this happens, it can change your life for a life time.
It has been written that - “If you find it in your heart to care for someone else, you will have succeed.” These words were written by the famous poet and author – Maya Angelou. These words truly describe the person who has so lovingly cared for me, and that is my mother – Kathy.
These words touched my heart in the greatest way. Everyday, my heart is filled with love and my eyes are filled with tears, as I recall her unselfish acts of love given towards me & my siblings.
Some people might say, but mothers are supposed to give love unselfishly and unconditionally. Well, that would be true if that person was your natural mother. In this case, Kathy is my grandmother.
You see, my real mom or biological mother was accidentally hit by a car, as she was walking home from work. Her car had engine trouble and because it was dark, the driver unfortunately didn’t see her. She was killed. This tragedy happened when I was only four (4) years old. I was told that she cared for me and my brother and baby sister very much. She was young, only twenty-one (21) years old and very pretty. During that short time of her life, I have seen lots of pictures that showed very happy times. I’m sure if she was still alive she would encourage me to do my best in everything. She was doing her best to make a good life for us, but, her life was taken too soon.
Even though this happened, I was blessed with another person who stepped in for my mother and that is my Grandmother. I never ever call Kathy the title Grandmother, because all I knew at the age four (4) was that she was “my mother” and I accepted it.
Therefore, this paper is being written about the person I have grown to love and know as “my mother” since age four (4). The one who has given her greatest touch & that is the touch of love.
It has been said that history repeats itself. I can say that about my life & the life of my real mother. When, my real mother was only four (4) years old like me, she was cared for by a guardian. That guardian is now “my mother (Kathy).” Probably never in a million years would my real mother (Sonya) have thought that the day would have come where the two of us would share the same love and attention from the same person. A person who cared for a four (4) year old then, and another four (4) year old years later.
My mother (Kathy) often tells me the dream she had before my mother (Sonya) passed away. My real mother (Sonya) came to her in a dream & said “take care of the kids.” Kathy responded by saying that, her kids were all grown up & were no longer babies, but my real mother’s request was honored. My mother Kathy really found it in her heart to care for us and has truly succeeded at it.
I know that my mother (Sonya) looks down from Heaven and smiles on us each & everyday & says Thank you to “my mother” (Kathy).
I feel so blessed to have been able to share love from two people I can call mother.
I truly believe that my real mother is pleased & “my mother” today makes sure that I continue to do my best in life. As I live each day to the fullest & continue to be encouraged by “my mother” my real mom, rejoices in Heaven about all my accomplishments. I feel so very, very special because its not everyday that a young lady like myself can have the love of two special ladies all wrapped up in the heart of one little girl. That little girl is me.
My mother (Kathy) has been a great inspiration to me and if success can be measured in deeds of caring and sharing, then my mother receives an A+. My mother (Kathy) has taught me never to be selfish but to share with others, especially those less fortunate than myself. I’ve found this to be true, as I work hard helping others at home, at school, at church, even playing with my friends in my neighborhood.
In conclusion, I would like to say:
My mom is a very, very special person to me and my siblings.

Why My Mom Is So Special      By Christina Pugh
Why my mom is so special,is because no matter how much crap my kid sister and I put her through she is always there for us girls. When I found out that I was pregnant with her grandson she did not really get mad it was more concerned for her daughters well-being. And when I went into labor she was there, when my kids got real sick or hurt she was there, or when my family needed some financial assistance with some stuff she always was there to give a helping hand, and she knows that her daughters will always love her, I have always dreaded the thought of my mom going througha heart attack or stroke losing one of my best influences in my life. No matter where or how she is always there for me and my kids, she would do anything for them.
I Love My Mom      By Mary Kate Blois
My mom has always been there for me and I love her so much for it. I will tell you some of how she has been there for me. When I was 15 I was diagnosed with diabetes and mom was there every minute for me. She stayed in the hospital with me for 2 nights until I was ready to go home and when I did get home she was there evn more for me while I was getting used to this new life style. Then just a week ago I was in a pretty serious car accident and hit my head pretty bad. I called my mom even though it was 2 in the morning and she came and got me and took me to emergency. I ended up with 15 stitches in my head and my mom was by my side the whole time in the hospital. I dont know what I would do without my mom, I love her so much. She worries a lot about me and sometimes it makes me mad but I know that it is just that she loves me. I really feel like my mom deserves this because she is so special to me and I think she is the best mom in the whole world and I love her.

EVERY NIGHT SHE WOULD BE OUT LOOKING FOR ME. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER SHE FOUND ME. SHE DROVE FOR 3 HOURS TO MY AUNTS HOUSE AND LEFT ME THERE. I HAD NO CLOTHES NO NOTHING. I TOOK THAT OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE MY LIFE AND I DID! SINCE THEN I HAVE MARRIED AND BIRTHED 2 CHILDREN, WHICH WITHOUT MY MOM I COULD NEVER HAVE MADE IT THROUGH. SHE STUCK BY MY SIDE EVERY TIME I CALLED. SHE STAYED UP AND TIMED CONTRACTIONS WITH ME EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS SOO TIRED. i'M PREGNANT AGAIN AND SHE IS WILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. SHE'S THE TYPE OF MOM YOU CAN TALK ABOUT MORE THAN ANYTHING TOO. SHE'S HONEST AND LOVING DESPITE HER OWN TRADGEDIES IN HER OWN LIFE. SHE IS MY WHOLE WORLD AND MY BEST FRIEND. A Mother's Love      By Zaahirah Swan
I'm fourteen years old and I still have really bad dreams. One time I saw a movie called They, and I couldn't sleep for weeks. The whole three weeks I couldn't sleep, my mother let me sleep in the bed with her. This is one of the reasons why my mom is special to me.
MY SUPER HERO!      By krista
Dun du dun du dun... have no fear, my mom is here!!!!!
My mom, oh where do I begin? She is the most amazing influential person in my life. Don't get me wrong, my dad is too, but the woman I am talking about is my mom. A super star,a super hero, an acrobat... well maybe not an acrobat(but I bet if she wanted to she could!)My mom can make any scrape feel better, any pb&j stained shirt white again, and get rid of any monsters under the bed!!!!She is the best because I know she will always love me no matter how much trouble I get in. Even though we fight sometimes I love her soooo much, all the stars in the galaxy could not add up to how much I love her.
Giving, Giving, Giving!!!!      By Brooke Steinmetz
The true reason why my mom is so special is because all she does is think about everybody except herself. If she wins then she will finally have at least one time for herself so that we, my family, can give back to her all the time she has thought about us and acknowledged us so please pick the best mom in the world!!!!
Hard Times      By Katie Allen
A year ago, my mom seperated from her husband of 20 years and the father of her 2 beautiful children. She probably should have done it sooner but she stayed with him for my brother and I. We left on night when things started to get bad. I thought that it was just a regular night, but things started to get physical, so I called my moms friend and he came to pick us up and we stayed with them until the cops removed my dad from the house and they havent been together since. This is so very hard on her and I know that she still loves him. He hasnt been paying child support for the past couple months and she is trying her hardest to keep us where we are living. She is only a school bus driver and doesnt make very much money. She is so special to me and I dont know what my brother and I would do without her. She is our everything.
My hero      By judy
My mom is the essence of unconditional and spiritual love. She is my hero and role model, rising above petty differences and never alienating anyone. Several years ago, despite above average intelligence, I spiraled into a heavy drug addiction. I lost my home & my job, & everything that meant anything. I found myself homeless in the downtown east side. When I tried to get out, Mom was there, even though she’d written me off as dead. She brought me shampoo and popcorn and love. I fought hard and realized how much pain I caused to her and the rest of my family. Last year I reached a milestone of 10 years without using drugs. Mom is grandma to my 6 and 2 year old daughters, and continues to be my iconic hero. I want to win this contest for her to say thank you and show her how much she means to me and so many other people. I want to thank her for turning her back when she needed to, but knowing when to be there for me when I needed her more than ever. I was taught and now I teach my daughters the same spirit of unconditional love. Thanks Mom – you’ve made the world a better place.

always a grannie      By Sabina Walston-Edwards
My mother and my children love each other dearly and we have a motto...grannie won't live forever , so the children are allowed to go to her place as much as possible. I can accept the fact that not only do my children love me, but they love another person just as much!!

MY MOM      By Alyssa
My mom is specail to me because she has been always there. I know that everyone says that about their mother just so they can win the contst, but im saying it bcause my mom is fun, cool, and a trust worthy woman. Everyone respects my mother. All my friends call her mom because thats what she is. I dont think a mother is just someone who gave birth to u but someone u can count on.Who will always love u no matter what u do. My mom always changes her plans for my sister and i when i have softball practice she is takes off of work just to watch me get dirty. I love my mommy so much and i truly think she is the best mom in the whole world. Not because she buys me any and every thing i want but because she loves me even when i get into trouble at school.
Courageous Woman      By FELICIA GULLY
My mother is special, because she is a courageous
woman. She has sacrificed her entire life putting others before herself. Many years ago my father died in car accident. At the age 29 my mother became a widow was left raise 10 children alone, 4 children were my cousins. She did not give up to have a life of her own. Instead she gave us life. She's so exceptional and inestimable, no ransom or anything can be given to repay my mother for what she done for me; but all the days of my life I am going to make an effort to show her how much I love her.

My mother....the vegetarian animal lover      By Caitlin Nielsen
My mom's name is Heather Nielsen and she is vegetarian. She eats no meant, hardly ever fish because she believes the way they are treated is NOT right. My mother has no porducts that do animal testing nin our house and tries to use environmentally friendly products for like cleaning and stuff. My mother is almost vegan which means she eats nothing with an animal porduct in it. My mom has reasons for all her beliefs becasue she has done a lot of research on it to prove her point. My mom is not young, (no no no joking joking)but she has a fun and energetic personality and a great style sense. She does NOT care what other people think about her and she isn't very self-conscious. She thinks the way she looks is great and if somebody doesn't like it then it is their problem not hers. I think my mom is the best because she believes in all the animal rights and is very active in trying to fight them.
My mom      By Emily
My mom really does desirve this. She is always doing something for others and never doing anything for herself. She is recovering alchoholic. She hasnt been here alot because she has been trying to get better,so shes been spoiling us alot. She works all the time just for her kids. She is a preschool teacher so she is like a mom to everyone. The preschool kids there are title 20.So they are mistreated and most of them don't have 2 parents. My mom had a chance to work somewhere differnt. But she stayed there to try and make a difference in those kids lives. Those kids love her so much because of her love and kindness to everyone. My mom is so special to me she is like my best friend and I hope you pick her
My mother - the hard worker-      By Rayna Schwartz
Hello. I am a 10 year old who apreciates that my mom works so hard. She raises three kids and tries her best to make our lives fun. I love her very much and think that she deserves to win something for all her hard work. she is always put under so much desitions and stress. I know she cant do too much for us but atleast she tries.she goes to sleep at night after all her work at 11:00pm and wakes up at 4:00am. She works all day.she hasent gone on a vacation in almost 4 years. She has hired three baby-sitters to take care of us. She even has her new boy friend who she loves very much tke care us sometimes. She never gets a break until she gets her 5 hours of sleep which isnt even a full night sleep! we even act like maids - we do most of the work around the house while she is on the computer doing work all day. This is a true story and i hope she wins. Please understand of how much she needs this. and i will feel bad if me taking time off helping her was worth nothing.
My mother and my hero      By Heather
My mom is very special because of all she has done and given of herself. 16 yrs ago, when I was 12, she adopted her niece’s baby girl to provide her a safe and secure home when at the time her niece could not. At one week old the baby became very ill with a rare case of pneumonia and was hospitalized for the first few weeks of life. My mom never left her side at the hospital. Now my younger sister, Nikki, is a typical healthy 16 year-old teenager.

My mom returned to school and received a BA in 1997, then a divorced and single mother. After the divorce money was always tight and with taking out school loans it became even more of a struggle for her. In 2001 she had no other choice but to file bankruptcy. My mom has always been the strongest most positive person I have and will ever know. She worked hard and succeeded in all she did. She has since gotten back on her feet and has a great job with security.

My mother gave me the support I needed to return to school myself. In 2002, when I was 24 years old, I gave birth to my son, Tyler. I had been a bartender and waitress all my life and knew I wanted something better if I was to provide a good life for my son. When Tyler was 3 months old my mom offered to share the home she was renting. This allowed her to be there for me always when I needed not only help with raising my son but being a fulltime student and single mother. I had a safe and warm home and knew my son was happy and safe. This allowed me to focus on school and in June of 2005 I received my AA in web programming.

Last year, shortly after I graduated my mother and I purchased the home she was renting and I decided to stay here with her for the family fulfillment it provided me and my son. I now have a great job and a very happy and healthy 3 and a half year old. I could not have accomplished so much without my mothers support. She is my best friend and my hero. Seeing how strong my mother was when life was at its worst showed me we can overcome anything if we work hard and really want it. Thanks mom, for showing me all my dreams are truly possible.
Why my mom is special      By Taryn
My mom is special because she is not like many other moms who like to sty inside she loves to be outside and watch us tube and swim and she is a scientist so she can help us with our homework. My mom is one of the coolest moms I know she doesn't ask for much (except chores) and she is fun she lets us do alot, but she hardly ever get's to do stuff for herself so my mom is very special.
My mother came to America at 18.      By Claudia Yurich
My mother named Griselda Ruiz came to America at the young age of 18. She married my father and began her life in a new country. Had a baby in 69, and a baby girl in 73' (me). Mother overcame many obstacles from language barriers, lonliness and being scared. I recently was divorced in 05 and realized alot of similar feelings as a single mother. I want to thank my mother for the strong, loving, and caring mother she was that I get my strength from as I walk down my own struggles. No matter what my mother was thrown her kids new they came first. The love was forever felt and appreciated. I want my mother to know how special she is to my brother and I. She is the reason I am the mother I am today. I thank you mom. Love, Claudia Yurich
My Soldier      By Lauren Strong
My mom is the best mom ever because she is the most hardworking and deserving woman I know. She is a soldier who is about to earn her E7 as a teacher to soldiers. She has been to Iraq and is my hero and role model. Also she does as much as she can to help out me and my sister. We are encouraged by her. If me or my sister have a problem we tell our mom because she is very wise and understanding. My mom is the best and even if she didnt win an award we are still lucky to have her: THE BEST AWARD EVER!!!!!
My mother, my friend      By Jerri Harrell
The story begins with the sacrifices of a woman. A woman who thinks she will marry the man of her dreams. The woman who is left to raise four children, all along. A woman that could have taken the easy way out, but chose to fight the remainder of her life to raise her children. A woman who never saw this as a sacrifice, but as a blessing. God gave her four beautiful children. She continues the same manner with her grandchildren. That is why God makes Moms
Mom, the GREATEST MOM in the WORLD!      By Jen
My mom is the BEST mom in the World! She teaches kindergarten all day then comes home to her three children and cooks and cleans. She never has time to herself because she is always doing work for school, cooking meals, doing yardwork and taking care of us. (her kids) She really deserves something special. If I could, I would give her anything she wished!
MY HERO      By Kenneth Carroll

MY HERO
Heroes…this term is used all throughout history. Heroes can be found in Greek Mythology along with the ancient Gods who made history; as well as in our past such as Mother Teresa for her compassion and aide to many; Hitler for only his technology and war advancements; JF Kennedy for trying to end segregation, etc. The word hero is used to describe someone who left a lasting impression.
When given this assignment, I had no idea as to the many heroes in history I would choose from. All of them were as equally deserving of recognition. I even thought about some of our hometown heroes that have come back from their different experiences with war. Then I realized sometimes heroes could be closer than we think. We can sometimes find a hero right beneath our noses.
For my hero, I have chosen my mother. My mom is somewhat like a typical mom as she cooks, cleans, does our laundry, and occasionally yells when we need it. But, my mom is so much more than that. She is a teacher as well. She teaches at a middle school here in San Antonio but she teaches me the most. I think my mom has always wanted to be in the teaching field. She is really a good teacher if I say so my self.
You see my mom doesn’t take any bullshit off anyone. She teaches in one of the worst districts in town and her school has about five different gangs. She is constantly dealing with students who do not care because usually no one in their family does either. These students rarely have family members who have gone on to something better, instead most have relatives that do drugs or sell them and are in gangs themselves. My mother teaches these students that no one can determine your future but yourself. She tells her students all the time that it doesn’t matter what others believe but what you believe in yourself. My mom has helped a lot of students find ways to change their future, helping them to set goals for a better life and to get into college. My mom says the worst thing is to believe you’re not good enough. She tells them that if this is their attitude then they are too scared to look beyond their neighborhood. She demands that they love themselves enough to try and reminds them the only thing stopping them is their selves. The one thing my mother hates is when someone tries to use their handicap as an excuse for not being able to do something.
My mom took a student who could not read and spent weekends with him until he became excellent at reading. One student who was a gang member threatened her with his fist because he was going to leave her class. He had to come to school as a condition of probation and all the teachers let him leave after taking roll. My mother refused. She told him he would learn something that year even if it killed her. The student said it just might, but my mother refused to back down. He asked her why she cared so much and she simply replied that there are two sides to a fence. One side was the side he was on. The side with drugs and gangs while the other side was an education and a possible future. She told him that she may be his last stepping-stone, the last push to help him to the other side. He came back to town about five years ago and looked us up. He was an officer now in the Marines. Just last week she had one of her hard core gang members cry in her arms. You see this particular student has always been told that he was a trouble maker and would never amount to anything so just give up trying.
She asked the student what he wanted to do for his life and he explained “nothing miss. I ain’t good at nothing. She got furious and said who said so. He replied that everyone thought him a trouble-maker so he never gave thought to a future. She asked him if he could have one job, any job in the world no matter what that job was, what job would it be. He replied that he always found engineering to be fascinating. She got him signed up for the engineering program in the high school he would be going to. Took him to SAC where she introduced him to the engineering director there. He is now signed up for the SAC engineering summer program that starts with ninth grade. Last week he was invited to an “Engineer for the day” job shadowing program with the college, hence his tears. She has done such things with so many others. Sometimes I wonder how she does it all. She hardly ever gets a real thank you. My moms awesome. There are so many things she wants and doesnt get the instead she gives to others. She never gives up, she even went through chemo this year and hid it from most everyone so as not to worry or burden anyone. That's my mom.
Some day I hope she will be nominated as teacher of the year or teacher of the week, better yet a title she deserves like mother of the year. You see the reason I have explained some of the things that my mother teaches her students is because these are the same lessons that my mother has taught me. My mother has raised me from the start alone, as my father passed on before I was even born. Therefore she has been the guiding light in my life. Although; at times, I have rebelled at her teachings as I am sure most teens do with their parents.
My mom has taught me that no matter what happens, no matter what the obstacles, find a solution and never give up. As I see my mother work with her students I find valuable lessons. Lessons that have showed me how to achieve what I want in life.
Lessons that help me understand how to keep trying even if I have to try four or five times before accomplishing my task.
My mom has not had an easy life being a single mom, but we have never wanted for anything. My mom backs me when I am right and has gone to battle for me as well as set me straight when I am the one in error. My mom has taught me to be fair and try to understand. She has also taught me how to hold my tongue or lash out when necessary.
I see all of the teens that currently do drugs and laugh when I think they should have my mom for just a day. I am never concerned with breaking the laws or having to deal with drugs or for that matter having to deal with any kind of legal issues. I am not saying that I am perfect. What I am saying though is that I am more afraid of what my mom would do to me for breaking the law and the punishment she would give me than I would ever be with societies punishment. I think that if more parents took a more active role like my mother then we would not have the problems we do today. She is not an abusive mother don’t get me wrong. It is the teachings that she has instilled in me. I know the expectations that she has for me.
My mom is my hero because of the lessons that she has taught me as well as the foundation that she has laid for my adulthood. My mom is my hero because of her selflessness. There have been so many times that my mom has done with out in order to do for me, and my brother, or complete strangers. She has literally given away the very clothes off her back to a homeless person on the street. We help feed with the Livingstones Ministry three times a week in the downtown area. One Christmas, in particular, my mother ran across an elderly lady who left home because her children beat her. She had hardly any clothes and it was very cold out. My mom took off her sneakers and gave them to this lady along with her coat.
My mom said she was lucky because she had so much more. At the time I thought she was crazy because that was her only jacket, but later in life I have come to realize what she meant by so much more.
Heroes are people who have left a lasting impression. Therefore my mom is the perfect choice for a hero. She has left an impression that will be with me until the day that I die, an impression that I hope to pass on to my children one day.

Always There      By Kayla
My Mom is the most special person in the world to me!!! I mean I have no idea how my Mom manages to do and remember everything all of the time!!! Even though she has a full time job and the responsibility of cleaning the house, making dinner and dealing with all of the bills and taxes she still makes time to spend with my brother and I. My Mom is so fun and always supports and encourages me with everything I do!!! My Mom deserves something, because she does everything for me and I want to give her something that is as special as she is.
I, like many kids hate going to school, but it is not because of the work; it is because of girls and friends. I just moved to Kelowna at the beginning of the seventh grade from my home in Peachland away from all my friends and my room with my big backyard. I hated the idea of moving away from a place where I was finally feeling comfortable. My friends and I had all promised that we would go to Middle School together. There I was on the first day of Middle School all by myself except for my Mom, I was hysterical that I wasn’t going to be with any of my friends at school, but somehow my Mom calmed me down and told me that I was a beautiful girl and all I had to do to make friends was to smile and be friendly. Because of my Mom I walked proudly to the entrance of my new school with a huge smile and more confidence then I had ever had.
Without my Mom I don’t think that I would ever be able to survive everyday at school. Many kids have super models, actors/actresses or singers as their idols that they look up to and respect but my idol is my Mom!!! My Mom is my everything!!! She is my best friend, my parent and my homework partner. With a single smile or hug she can brighten my day 100% and makes me feel like I can face the world. Words could never say how much my Mom means to me and how much I love her.
A life of giving      By Ted
My mom is vey special to me because she has lived a life of hard work and being kind to others. My family owned a small neighborhood retaurant for many years and my mom worked most of those years in the hot kitchen preparing food and washing dishes and doing much of the dirty work. She wasnt a paid employee,so she did this for no pay and didnt complain about this. She raised 4 children.worked hard at the restaurant, and has always been very involved with our church. She always gives of her little free time to help out at the church. Ive never known a more caring individual. She is 77 now and is recovering from a recent stroke, and I wish there was some way I could let her know how much she has meant to me and our family. After all of these hard years she deserves a little recognition.
My Mother In Law Notta      By carol pisano
I truly believe that my mother in law os so very special. She is such a wonderful person with a great big heart. In the past 21 years she has had to deal with the death of 3 of her children. I could not imagine the pain that she felt and still feels to this day. She deserves a special day for HERSELF!! You know what I mean. I have been seperated from her son for over 3 years now. I had a substance abuse problem and it pretty much destroyed my marriage and a few family relationships along the way. Notta and I haven't talked in quite awhile. The thing of it is,is that my 3 boys are living with her. Their dad pretty much lives with his girlfriend and her 2 kids. My mother in law doesnt need to be raising my children. although I am in the process of buying a house with my fiance, with whom by the way my kids like alot.
Anyway, Notta truly, honestly desereves a special day. I always considered her my actual mom. Its sad we dont talk anymore. But hopefully someday. I wrote this because I do love her very much, and I also thank her very much. I want her to win something. I think it would just make her very happy.

Thank You,

Carol A. Pisano
Uncondtional Love      By Nivia Reed
I am 24 years old and I was adopted when I was 21 by an extrodinary person. My mom's name is Sandy she is the director of a home for women and children called Bethany Place. I went there when I was 16 and 8 months pregnant with a biracial baby. I had been disowned by my biological mom and no one wanted to help me. She loved me from day one. Her love is unconditional. She just loves me because she wants to and she has that much love in her. She is 56, I'm 24 and my daughter is 7. You would think after having already raised two boy's, {that are now grown and have thier own kids}, that she would not want to go through all over again but she does. I would like to thank her for the love she has given me and my daughter. I don't know anything that could say or show her how grateful I am but I'm satisfied with the privelage of sharing this with someone else. I don't have any money but would love to send her and my father on vacation even if it is just a couple of days, they really need one. A cruise would be nice or a trip to London. She spends her days helping other women and thier children get on thier feet that she really does not have to get off hers. I rub her feet every night but even that does not seem good enough for me.Please help me give her a good Mother's Day gift. Anything. Thank you very much.
My Special Mom      By Hannah Peterson
I think that my mom is the most special person in the world. She always makes dinner for us. She works very hard around the house. She is a very good artist. I want to be with her forever because she makes me feel loved and special no matter what I do. I love you mommy.
A Mother's Love      By Jane Squires
My Mother was never one to hug us kids growing up. It wasn't until I was married and moved away I realized all the things my Mom did to show her love. She worked hard in the house every day as well as working with Dad on the job.
She cooked, cleaned and did whatever was necessary and was always there when we needed her.
When my oldest daughter rebelled, my Mom was there every time I needed a shoulder to lean on - day or night. We became so much closer during this time.
She told me then many times she wished she could hug us kids but her Mother never hugged her so it felt strange to her.
But as a Mother myself with two grown girls, I know how much she instilled into me that has helped me survivie in the hard times.
"Mom the GREAT!"      By Olivia Matthews
My mom is the GREATEST, COOLEST, FUNNIEST, NICEST mom. She is always doing something for my sister or me. Even though she has a VERY busy day at work already. My Mom is the best. She is always helping me with my homework or anything that I need. She is soo cool . She takes me and my sister to anything that we wanna do.. My Mom - A Gallery of Giving      By Sandra Klein
My mom has been the central focal point in our family that we could turn to ever since we were young kids. She has raised us three kids basically as a single parent and always gives without asking for anything in return. She has quietly waited over 20 years for a grandchild and the time finally came where I could provide one for her. After giving birth to our daughter, Samantha, in March, 2003, my mother retired early from her job in Edmonton and moved out to British Columbia to spend time and look after Samantha when I returned to work. She has looked after her health and been fairly healthy all her life. It was at this time that she hurt her back and was in immense pain and could hardly walk and had to have a cane for about 10 months until she got in for back surgery. After about 1 month recuperation time she then found out she had a blocked heart valve and had to have surgery to have a stint placed in her heart. This was supposed to be a one day surgery but because of complications she was in the hospital for a week. Finally, recuperating from this the doctors discovered some spots on her lung. After two bronchoscopies they came to the conclusion that it was cancer and that she will have to have part of her right lung removed. She has also been dealing with Diabetes and trying to manage her weight as well. Dealing with all this and then myself having an emergency appendectomy and finding out the same week that my appendix had cancer on it as well was a hard blow to our family. Luckily my cancer was removed with the appendectomy but my mom still has to go through the lung operation and will be in the hospital through the Mother’s Day weekend as well. We are hoping that this finally be the last of her operations and hopefully won’t have to go through any Chemo afterwards. She’s had to deal with a lot since she moved out here 2 years ago. Something good must come from all this and I wish for her to be entered into the Giving Gallery's Mother's Day Contest because my mom is really, truly a Gallery of Giving!

Solid Rock      By Sheila Sims
My mother is Laverne Daugherty from Judsonia, Arkansas, small town about 50 miles North of Little Rock,Arkansas. Mom just recently found out that she has cancer of her vocal cords and has started radiation treatments at CARTI and even though she doesn't say it, I know she is scared. My parents have been married (happily) for 53 years and provided us kids with a wonderful christian home. Mom though is the backbone of the family, strong, unwavering and the most dependable person you could ever meet. I could only dream of being just like her. What a wonderful woman, friend and mother I have. She quit a public job when I gave her the first grand daughter and she never was happier than being a housewife, mother, aunt etc....She considered her place was a calling from God and she never wished her life was different. She is at peace with who she is and what she became. I wish this generation had half the character and morals that she does and the world would be a better place. I love her with all my heart and pray that she gets through radiation with flying colors.
"Zero" to hero      By Emily Carter
When I was very young, my parents got a divorce and my mother got custody of me and my older brother. Ever since then she has been a single mother, which is anything but easy. To keep us happy and occupied my mother got me into dancing lessons and my brother into hockey. We both played baseball every summer. None of that is cheap, and she worked very hard to give us everything we needed. She did everything she could to make sure my brother and I had a nice life and everything a kid with two parents would have. She was a seamstress and ran a daycare, which meant I had a lot of friends around all the time which was nice. She went back to school to become a CGA and get a higher paying job to better support the family. The three of us have been through a lot and she's always been there to support us. Now that my brother and I are older, my mom is going back to school. She's going to law school because she has always loved law and wanted to be a lawyer, but never really had the chance.
My mother knows what she wants and what she loves and does everything she can to get it or support her loved ones. She was a broke single mom and now we are a great supportive family and she is following her dreams. She always put her children first in her life and for that I will be eternally grateful. My mother follows her dreams and for that I admire her. She is my hero.

A fragnance of love      By zainab

Just a Wonderful Person      By Emily
My mother is my mentor, my friend, my confidant, and my conscience. She laughs and cries with me, tells me secrets and scolds me when I, nearly twenty myself, even think about doing something dishonest. When she drove by a school bus with the stop sign up by mistake, she pulled over, giving the driver enough time to write down her licence plate. She is shy but loves to listen, and loves to boast, after half a glass of wine, about the time in the seventh grade when she won the dancing contest.
My mother isn't stereotypical, nor is she a saint. But she is an amazing woman, a fantastic mother, and a great friend. I would not exchange my mother for anything in the entire world, as I love her more than is explainable.
The Perfect Image      By Sandra Sutton
A wife, a mother, a daughter, a teacher, a friend, but most of all God’s favored servant. My mother is a strong, determined and dynamic woman who has endured and conquered much in her lifetime. To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. The future destiny of a child is always through the work of the mother.” I can not pay my mother for the joy she has placed in the hearts of many and no one deserves this more then...

My Life Support      By Jaclyn
My mother is so special to me because she has given me life more than once. Growing up with a bad case of medical depression as a child was really hard for me, and me and my mom never saw eye to eye. The years were rough and we were aweful to each other, mostly me towards her. I was on a bad track downward and my mom faught for my life when I had completely given up. I resented her, pushed her away and broke her heart and yet she held her ground. We have since revived our relationship, and I, the only child, recently moved away from home. Although me and my mom are on good terms, and I have revealed my dependance on her, my heart still aches everyday from all the horrible things i have done or said to hurt her in our past. My mother means the world to me and I would not be here today if it was not for her. She is an amazing woman. Not only I benefit from her nature, she volunteers for almost every cause and keeps an amazing work ethic. This single mother of 19 years is beautiful, amazing and strong. Never once have I heard a complaint from her, and yet i have not once seen her acknowledged. Please help me show her she is noticed!

Not like any of the other moms      By larkyn
My mom isn’t like any of the stay at home mom’s that bake the most cookies for the bake sale. She is special and is the best mom in her own way. She works full time and does tones of community work. That just makes her a good person. She is an amazing mom because on top of all the things she does for others and the community she has always supported me in the things that are important to me. He drives me to three soccer practices a week and has never missed a game. When I was in swimming she would get me up at 5:45 in the morning and drive me to the pool once a week for morning practices. When I really into track she would come running with me in the morning before school. My favorite thing that my mom does is she buys me flowers on woman’s rights day every year.

My mother is one of the hardest working people I know. She cooks, she cleans, and she even homeschools. She has six kids that are all taken care of by her. If it were not for her our family would not even operate. this mothers day I have all planned out. I'm build her a birdhouse that I will personalise and that day i will cook clean and give a day for the spa , just because I love her.
Why I am here      By Jo Donn Griffin
There are days I get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget why god put us on earth; then I think of my momma and the important lessons of life. Giving. My momma incorporates giving to others and making others smile in every aspect of her life everyday. I find I feel at my best when living by her example. Giving and making others laugh is the best thing we can give. My mom is 62, single and retired. She makes it every part of her day to help me or my brother, elderly people in her neighborhood, her brothers and sisters. That is what life is about.

My Mother

My mother she has style and grace, she always has a smiling face.
When I’m away , her love she sends,
When my heart is broke, she always mends.

She taught me what was wrong and right, never would she let me fight. Wherever she went, I was by her side, never from her could I hid.

How much she ‘s loved she will never know, she has a warm and sunny glow. She’s always there through thick and thin,
That’s why my mom is my, “Best friend.

Words can't describe my MOM      By Wendy Smith
My mom has had a difficult year, in the last 11 months she has lost both her father and her husband yet she continues to show support to my sister and I even though we are grown and have moved out. She thinks of us and her grandchildren before she thinks of herself, she has always shown us more support than we could ever ask for - even when she didn't always agree with our decisions. Words can't describe how much her love and support has meant to me over all these years - I want the world to know how great she is! I want to give a little back to her although nothing I could do could possibly pay her back for all she has given to me. If you asked my mom what makes her happy - she would say the love of my family - not material things or anything else. She deserves the world and more!!!!
My Mother      By Maria Murray
My mother has been my best friend for years no matter what is going on she is always there. She has been there for the happiest moments in my life, she was there when I miscarried, she was in the delivery room when I gave birth to both of my children even though she knew things could go very wrong she chose to stay by my side.
I can call her up anytime of day or night and talk about happy news...or about bad news...she has always been there for me and is now there for my children as well.
She is a very special person who knows just what to say and when, nothing I could do in my life could measure up to all the things that she has done for me...Everyday I tell myself I will be there for her no matter what it is she needs...and I strive to keep that promise to myself.
Angels on Earth      By Lisa Fresina

When my daughter was born with a birth defect mom was there to hold my hands and dry my tears. She supported me in all the therapys and special docotrs over the years. She never said no to watching my baby girl. And she did it again with baby two. Thank you mom for everything from potty training me, teaching me to talk and helping with my kids and all in between. Thank you seems hardly enough. I wish I sould give you the world. But alas I can not so I give you my Love. Love, Lisa
Acceptance of a Mother      By Anne
In 1967/8, segregation/discrimination of blacks was in the process of being eliminated. I was 5 years old and a member of a family of 5 kids. Being the the only child with dark skin in the family/neighbourhood; my parents had to make the hard choice to put me in the care of Child Services, in order for me to go to school.
My Second Mother took me in as a foster child. She had 14 children of her own, and 6 or 7 foster children. She was a very loving and caring person, who treated all of her foster children as if they were her own. She suffered from diabeties for years and when I was 15 the diabeties took both of her legs. Therefore she could not take proper care of me and I was assigned back to Children Services. I was lucky enough to have another loving/caring woman (also deceised) take me in even though she had said that she was not taking any more foster children. Child Services convinced her to take me and in hope that she could see me through my high school. Although there was some rought times she guided me through high school, after which I joined the Canadian Military. I am now retired from the Military and living a great life.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't thank these two women for giving to me their strength, guidance, knowledge and unconditional love; for that is what a MOTHER does.
Thank you Jane and Lilly for making me....me.
The Giver      By Henry Minner
My mom is very special because she gives so much of herself to others to make sure they are happy and try to be a resource person. She had become a Foster Parent in 1994 and since have adopted five children, I am the only birth son. She is a super woman. Taking everyone to appointments, helping with homework, being the mediator with problems which does extend to our church family. My mom went back to work two years ago as a bus driver. Her new adventure, which she gets much joy listening to other children. I know she is a lovely person and deserves a break or something special. I would like my mom to win this contest because she is A SPECIAL MOM.
She's like the Energizer Bunny      By Sheana Bastien
My mom is 60 years old and single. She's had a pretty rough life. Her first marriage ended about 4 years after it began. She managed to work a full time job and raise 2 children on her own. When I was about 6 years old my mom met a man who would eventually become her 2nd husband. She had a baby with him, and shortly thereafter they were married. He was around for about 20 years...during which time he was abusive to us children, and threatening to my mother. When we had all grown up and left home (except for the youngest) my mom finally got up the courage to leave him. She divorced him and in turn gave up a lot of "material" comforts. So she is now 60 years old, single and working 2 jobs just to keep a roof over her head. She has had offers from people to move in with them, but she will not leave because she always wants to be close to her children. My mom has gone through a lot, and it wasn't until I became a mother myself just how much she really did go through. So, that's my story...and that's why I think my mom is the best mom in the whole world.
My Selfless Mother      By Erica
What makes my mom so special is her selflessness and her unyielding faith. 2006 has already been a rough year for my mother, Debra Jo. At the beginning of December, my mom’s dad, my “Papa”, was diagnosed with brain cancer. At the end of January, I lost my “Papa” and my mother lost her father, a man whom she adored. We all did. I knew my mom was feeling a great deal of pain and sorrow that I couldn’t understand, but she put herself on the back burner, as usual, to take care of her mom, my “Nannie”. She bends over backwards to make sure my Nannie’s house is clean, the lawn is always mowed and all those physical things, but most of all, she makes sure that my “Nannie” doesn’t feel lonely.

Obviously, she is an amazing daughter, but my brothers and I agree that God couldn’t have given us a better mother. I have two younger brothers, one is a senior in high school and the other is a hard-working 22-year-old. I am a 24-year-old school teacher. My middle brother and I moved back in with my parents after college and my mother never complained a bit. She’s never made us feel like a burden. She has always made the three of us feel so special and soooo loved! My youngest brother plays baseball and she didn’t miss one game this season, as a matter of fact, she wouldn’t dream of it; even though she works full-time. My dad works out of town, so my mom has to do a lot of things by herself, but she never complains.

I find it difficult to explain how special she is. She’s absolutely amazing. She’s my best friend and if God would’ve let me hand-pick my mother, I would’ve chosen her.

My Hero      By Cassie Matheson
She’s my hero. She’s my best friend. She's my mentor. She’s my mother. My mom has been an amazing, caring and wonderful mother to my two sisters’ and me since we were born. My mom has made sure everything she has done in her life is focused around us and making sure we have the best life possible. My mom volunteered at our kinder-gym until each of us started going to elementary school. As soon as I started elementary school my mom always helped around the school, went on school field trips and later joined the parents’ council. My mother continued to help out at our elementary school until my youngest sister finished elementary school in 2005. My mom has also been a Girl Guide leader for 10 years now and continues to be a leader for a Pathfinder group even though my sisters’ and I are no longer apart of Girl Guides. My mom always wanted to make sure she was always around for my sisters’ and I so that is why she made the decision to be a stay at home mom as soon as I started elementary school. My mom stayed at home with my sisters’ until they were old enough to go to school and once they started school she started up an at home daycare that began through word of mouth from people. My mom’s day care became so popular that she still continues to run her daycare. Aside from caring for my two sisters’ and I and the daycare children my mom also took care of a friend who was almost dying. Through my mom’s support and time spent with her this lady was able to regain her strength and health after being in the hospital for almost a year. My mom is my everything, I couldn’t have asked for a better mom. She is an inspiration to me and many other people she has encountered throughout her life. My mom has defiantly surpassed my idea of a perfect mom. My mom is my hero she has provided such a great example for me to follow as an adult and when I have children Words cannot describe how amazing my mother is and how much she means to me and so many other people.
My Mother      By Laura Ore
My mother had 5 kids to keep up with, now this was before computers, video games, and we didn't have cable then either.
My dad didn't belive in us playing in the snow, he would say, "you'll just get sick and we don't need another bill". So when he would go to work, my mother would say, Walk in your dad's footprints, go across the street and have fun, when you get done walk backwards in his footprints back to the house and I'll dry your things before he gets home.
in the summetime when there was no school, my dad took us to her job and put us in her car then go to work his self, about ten minutes later our mother would come out of a hot mill she worked in all day, she ate no lunch, and only drunk water, so she could use her money to bring us icecream.
My mother would say she wasn't hungry so there was enough to go around. She had what she would call "rich man's bread" and Poor man's bread", it wasn't till I was grown that I knew the true reason for the names, Rich man's bread is what we had if we had alot of flour ( for it was thick) and Poor man's bread was when she was low on flour (it was very thin).
Now we are all grown and I still see her doing with out for our kids.
I guess you really don't think much about all your mother goes through till you grow up. I wish sometimes that I could go back in time and say THANK YOU MOTHER or I LOVE YOU MOTHER, just a little more
My Mommy      By Bayden Collins
My grandma is writing this for me. I'll be four in June. In February, 2004, I was diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease. From that day until January 31,2005 (when I had a kidney transplant-Daddy gave me a kidney) my precious Mommy gave me medicine 22 times a day, plus a shot everyday and two shots two days a week. She had to be up every night for most of the night working with me. Now since the transplant, I receive medicine every 12 hours. My mommy has never left me overnight, and the only time she is away from me is when she is teaching school. My mommy is the most wonderful mommy in the world, and I love her very much.
Happy Birthday Mom!      By Christian Roberts
Mom turned 81 today(May 1)
She still thinks that she 35 but that someone stole her body and left this wrinkled up old bag of skin & bones in its place. At 81 she still works everyday at the St.Lucie Fla Museum in Ft.Pierce, Fl. During WWII she did her part by becoming a "WASP",(WOMEN AIR SERVICE PILOT) one of only 1073 womesn to claim the title of WASP. These women pilots were ferry pilots moving fighter aircraft all over the country to free up the male pilots for the wer effort. Following the war, she married dear old Dad,lived on a 60' sailing ship while raising 6 kids and several ships cats. She instilled in each and everyone of us kids the ability to fend for ourselves, be self sufficient and to care for others. She's had to bury two of her children but all the others have gone on to earn college degrees, become responsible citizens and one is now a retired US Marine. She has done motherhood, family and America proud...

Mom is Special Because      By Neal Wolff
My Mom Judy is special because of all the things she does for others without asking for anything in return. The most memorable thing about my Mom is when she dropped everything, took time off work and went to NYC in 2001 to help the victims of the WTC Disaster. Even though Mom came home ill with what they are calling the WTC Cough and Lung Desease. She said she would do it again. She never looks at her own pain, only looks at ways to help others threw their pain.
She was there.      By Jessica Lee
My mom is amazing because when I was 11 I got a cutussion on my arm and counldn't do much of anything but she was there for me. I couldn't write so she wrote my homework while I told the answer and she would know if I was right or wrong. Then I got a threatening note in my locker and she let me cry on her shoulder. I know it doesn't seem like much but it ment a lot to me.
Super Woman/SuperMom      By Kayla Nelson
My mom is liek superwoman to me. She has raised three kids and she's going through all three of us's teenage years with us at the same time. She is always doing something: cleaning, cooking, washing, ironing, and being mom. She is always there for us no matter what our problem is. My mom seems different than my friends' moms. They seem to just let their house be dirty and they seem like they love their kids, but they don't love them like my mom loves me and my siblings. My mom always keeps the house clean. She likes to make a good impression. My mom has the smile and eyes of an angel. She is one of my best friends. She is SuperWoman. She is SuperMom. She deserves a break, and she deserves goodies every now and then. My mom always spends money on our family. She hardly ever gets things for herself. Besides cleaning stuff, she will get herself something maybe once or twice a year. She loves all of us, and she knows that we love her. But, I think if i won this contest for her by writing these wonderful things about her, she would cry and realize that I love her that much more.
Like Mother Like Daughter      By Kathleen
Many people take one look at my mom and I and know that we are mother-daughter. We have many differences and similarities. My mom loves reading while I don’t really care for it. We both love traveling but, my mom has been to Europe and I haven’t. Some of our similarities are that we both love and care for animals. Also, we both enjoy watching TV together.

My mom and I are very similar people. We are both creative and enjoy doing crafts. We have dual citizenship which mean that we are citizens in two countries.(We have Canada and America citizenships.) Traveling is one of our very favorite things to do whether it’s with friends or family. Sometimes my dad wonders why I spend a lot of my time on the computer but, I get it from my mom. On either burning hot days, freezing cold days, or just plain old regular days we loving getting Starbucks.

We are also very different people. For example I love being around the action and noise but my mom loves the peace and quiet. My mom has two brothers however I have one brother. Even though we are citizens in the same places we were born in different countries. My mom was born in Edmonton, Alberta on the other hand I was born in Laguna Beach, California. Even our favorite ice cream flavors differ, I like mint chocolate chip and she like rocky road.
Similarities and differences help shape who we are. Everyone is different and similar in one way or another. If everyone was the exact same imagine how boring the world would be. If everyone was the exact opposites we would have absolutely nothing to do.
No title can sum up her life      By DIONE TMOMAS
When i think of my mother, and all the good deeds she has done for me as well as others, i have a blockage in my thoughts. Not because i cant think of nothin good to say about her, but because she has done too much to get out all at one time. My mom has been wonderful to me in many ways, i cant even began to explain. But i am going to start with the fact that she was not very wealthy and me and my sisters always wanted things, so she got 2 jobs one overnight and one during the day just to please me. Thats true love, and back then i did not understand the value of sleep, so i did not really understand how tired she was when she came home. But now that i have a job, i try to let her not work as much, but me and my sister are in the class of 06 so we have to manage money like crazy working with graduation budgets and everything, and my mom is working her butt off to make us happy and trying not to let us regret not participating in anything when we graduate. Well, i just wanted to find a way to thank her. She has been through hurricane katrina and supported us dearly. All she need is thanks. Before it is too late.
Grandma      By Kenneth Hoffman
Grandma

What would Ihave done

Without my wonderful Grandma?

A very special someone

Kind to all children near and far.

She shared her stories

With the grace of a bard;

I told her my worries

And things of the heart.

I can never repay her

The joy that she gave

Except with the mem'ries

Of love that I saved.
My mom is my gaurdian angel      By Allison Ruhnke
I have been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma recently. While struggling through chemo, my mother finds time to come help me with my own two children and the usual household chores. I am too weak to live my life normally, and with her help I am capable of spending my well times with my children. She works full time and often has to put in 10 hours mandatory overtime. Yet, she still comes over to help me when she can. My two sisters and I were raised solely by her on a minimum wage job. She has always given her all to give us all she could. And she still gives the most she can to us. I love my mother more than she could ever know, and without her right now I am not sure how I would make it. She really deserves a reward and more for all she has done for me and my sisters. She is my living gaurdian angel, god bless her.
Whole Hearted Mommy      By Crystal Hache
I am 19 years old and I have an older sister that is 24, her name is Tanya. Since we were young we have been raised by such a wonderful mother, when i was 3 her and my dad were divorved; so my mom was a single mother for many years and I never realized how much she sacraficed for us until recently. AS I grew older my appreciation for her also grew, because you start to realize it is not easy to get things in life, you have to work for them. Last year my mom surprised me with a trip to mexico, I really got to know my mom on this trip and I found out how alike we really are. This year she surprised me, my older sister, and even her mom with a trip to CUBA! She works so hard and saves her money so she can do nice things for the people she loves, and not once has she ever asked for anything in return. She is buying my older sister, me, and my nana new clothes for the trip which leaves her shopping at a second hand store because she wont have money left, and that breaks my heart. I just finished my first year of college which she help pay for and I will be starting work soon, but i know i wont be able to make enough to buy her something really special, because i have to save for school. It just kills me to know that she is shopping at a second hand store just so we all can have nice things, it is not fair in my mind. All she does is give give give, ti'll she cant give anymore, and even then she tries her best! She has done that for me and my sister ever since we were little, i think it's her time now to shine! It would mean a lot to me and my sister to see her smile.
Mom      By Geri Hinkle
Mom: Well, here we go again. Never far from my thoughs and certainly never far from my heart. I can't believe I'm going through this life without you. I have so much to share...my job, your grand-children, the fact that I budget money just like you! I don't care. I'll take your bad habits with the good...a memory...anything to hold on to. I hope you've met your peace, me, I'm still working on it. I love and miss you. The following poem is for you:

They say you were here on a loan
To be here just a while
I never remember signing a contract
After all I was just a child

A loan is something used and
When finished given back
You were my loving mother
Certainly not meeting the definition of that

A habit, and advisor, even a sturdy tree
Seems to meet more of the description
Of what you were to me

An always stable presence
I couldn't do without
People came and people went
But you were always there
A person I could count on...count on without a doubt.

They said heaven needed an angel
One that shown so bright
But when they took MY angel
My sunny days turned to blacked night

I wish I had the strength or
Even faith so strong
To help me each and everyday
And show me it wasn't wrong

They say heaven doesn't make mistakes
But maybe they made just one
Could they possibly send you back
and undo the wrong they've done?

I know that you are gone
Until we meet they say
But do they really know
The reasons I do not pray?

I don't want just one more day
or even an hour to share
I want you back here with me
After all, that's whats really fair

Someday I'll find the faith
The faith to hel me through
Until that day comes to me
I foever be missing you.
My Mom      By Trang Pham
I believe my mom is a very special lady. I know she's special because she had given everything she had, including her happiness, to raise her 12 children. After the fall of Saigon 1975, we escaped from Vietnam by boat and are now settled in California. My mother is now 74 and had just gone through 2 knee replacement surgeries. She and my dad are living a wonderful life now because they deserve it. She had been suffering from high blood pressure and had been in and out of the hospital many times. I would do anything to take away the pain from her so that she could enjoy at least another 10 years to see 17 of her grandchildren grow up.
On this Mother's Day, I wish nothing else than for my parents to continue to be healthy and do whatever they want to do, and travel to places they had never been to.
Thank you for giving me this chance to write about my mother.
My Mother, My Hero      By Joanna E. Penick
My mom is my hero. She is an accomplished educator holding a Master's Degree in Art Education, (being named Virginia Elementary Art Educator of the year) a loving mother to myself and my older brother, a support system for my father (who has been through two bouts of lung cancer and is now being treated for skin cancer because of exposure to Agent Orange as a soldier in the Vietnam War), a devoted daughter to her parents (this year when my grandfather fell ill she split her time between our home and their home-three hours away), and she has been an incredible force in community arts over the past 30 years. With all of her accomplishments and achievements, I am a proud daughter.

However, what my mom has done for me personally is an achievement in and of itself. At a young age my mom instilled in me a sense of confidence and self-worth that I have to this day. This was perhaps the greatest gift she could ever give me. She encouraged me no matter how silly the venture was and never once discouraged me from trying. She told me I could be anything I wanted to be, and she meant it. She placed value on my happiness, not how much money I made. This year, when I was finishing my Master's Degree in Art History (like mother like daughter) my mom provided me with help, support, guidance and encouragement and without her, I am not sure if I would have finished. She believed in me even when I was doubtful and listened to me when I was frustrated and ready to throw in the towel.

My mom puts everyone else's needs before hers. Though this may be true for many mothers, my mom still puts herself last, even though her “kids” are 28 and 24. If there is anything that my brother or myself ever need, my mom will be there to help in any way she can. Since she helped me while writing my thesis, I would love to give her something special to say thank you. She is an amazing woman and without her, I would not be the woman I am today. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have this incredible mother and to have such a close relationship with her. Unfortunately being in grad school means that I don’t have time for a fulltime job and I can’t give my mom all of the experiences I think she deserves. She has given me everything and I think it's time to give something back.
The Best Gift      By Lisa Estrella
A mother is a person that a child looks up to while growing. I grew up watching my mother be a full time mother and going to school to complete her Masters Degree in Education. She read to me and helped me learn new things. I also learned that it is important to set goals and complete them just by watching her. I now have my Masters Degree in Social Work. I have a 3 1/2 month old baby girl and I hope my daughter follows in the same path. I am reading to her and helping her learn new things daily. I am giving her the gift of love and cherishing time with her and my mom because she is now a grandmother.
Try and Try and Try again.      By Emily Brodnax
I have never been the easiest person to get along with, I have always given my mom a hard time. Choice of boyfriend, career, friends, life in general. If my mom said right...I went left. I could never understand why every time I pushed her away, and then I fell...She was always right there waiting. My mom finally told me, the harder I pushed, she may seem distant but she was always only one step away, because that's what a mother does.
My Guardian Angel      By Christie Bowker
I feel that I am truly blessed to be given an angel as a mom. There are so many things she has done for me that I take for granted. I know who I am and who I can become because of her. She has given up so much of her life to my sister and I and I can not thank her enough. I do not have a lot of money because I am in college but, I want to give her a little something special because, she is truly special. I do not know what I would do with out her. She is my Guardian angel an my guiding light.
MOTHER      By Tina Davis

A Mother, A Friend, An Inspiration      By Lindsay LoProto
The year 2005 was truly a test of our family's strength and faith. We are from Louisiana, and from the destruction of Katrina to the tragic death of my older brother our family has endured many loses. But through it all there is one thing we have not lost- the strength, courage, and love of my mother. My mother is the pillar of our family. She has endured more than any mother should ever have to, but yet she still manages to hold not only herself, but our family together. My mom is my best friend and my inspiration. No words can do justice to the heartfelt love and admiration I have for my mother.
Super Mom      By Lindsay Millis
I can't put into words what an incredible person my mother is. The sad thing is, I don't think anyone ever gives her any credit. This is the year I really want to thank her for all that she does. When my mom was 22 years old, a year older than I am now, she was diagnosed with multiple schlerosis. I can't even imagine finding that out at such a young age. Most people would have given up at this point, but not Stephanie(my mom). Oh no, she will never let some disease get the best of her. She runs or bikes every day, gets up at 5:00 a.m. during the week to teach an aerobics class and then works at her full time job for Mary Free Bed hospital, where she gushes about the joy it brings her to be able to help the children. She has competed in many triatholon's, half marathons, and 150 mile bike rides to help donate money for Multiple Schlerosis. It breaks my heart to see someone with so much drive limping at the end of her race. I can see the pain in her face, and I know that it's difficult for her. Her whole life has been an uphill struggle, but instead of letting it get her down, she says, "Bring it on", and accepts it as a challenge. She is good at everything that she attempts; cooking, running, biking, swimming, and being a mother. She has taught my sister and I to become independent adults, and has always given us so much respect and taught us the strength of being a powerful, independent woman. I recently watched her playing with one of my cousins a few weeks ago, and the gentle calm of her voice reminded me of the many moments I shared with her as a child, and it almost brought me to tears. In all the pampering and "i'm proud of you" statements she has given to my sister and I, I feel it is time for me to pamper her, and tell her, "Mom, I'm so proud of you".

I got to "choose" my Mom - Here's How.
Jan is my Father's ex-girlfriend of about 30 years, but her and I have stayed in touch.
I have christened her my "Chosen" Mom, because I chose her to be christened as such.
She makes me feel welcome into her home, she is always available with "Motherly" advice whenever I call her and emails, are always answered.
We have done many things together, throughout the years and it's always filled with joy and happiness.

My Mom's a Real Life Superhero      By AA McLemore
My mother is the best mom in the world for many reasons. For one thing, she is a single mother taking care of me on her own income. She is a teacher so she doesn’t make very much money so we really have to watch what we spend. No matter how tight our budget is, she always allows me to do my favorite hobby, horseback. She always puts my wants before hers. The main reason I am entering this contest is because my mom always does things for me, and I’d really like to win to give back to her. To me my mom is Super mom. She has coached my soccer team, taught my Sunday School class, been my Girl Scout leader, given me help when I needed it, and supported me 100% in all my activities. I want to thank you for this wonderful oppurtunity for kids to give back to our mother’s without paying a penny.
Supreme Love      By P. McMeans
After leaving my father some 25 years(an abusive relationship). My mother raised me on her own, sacrificed many of her own needs and providing everthing fo me. Then years later I had two children with my girfriend and my son was killed while with the caregiver. My mother devasted. He was 2 & 1/2 and her best buddy. Since I was never listed on the Birth Certificate, It was becoming imposible for me to claim to be her father. However with all the love and strength my mother had she took all the nessasary steps to adopt her own grandchild. I adore my mother and a simple thankyou has never felt like enough. So if you could help me to honor my mother as she truly deserves Thank you

Our Strength      By Roger Block
After a year where my father battled melanoma and she herself defeated breast cancer, her strength, courage and the number of lives she has touched has never been so evident. For 30 years she has demonstrated to my brother and I the importance of marriage through her endless love and devotion to my father. She has shown us, through her work at Lakeside MS, how important it is to give selflessly and to invest in young children. And after all she has been through this last year, she has never once stopped giving, loving and supporting our family.
The strongest woman      By Jennifer McCloy
My mother is the GRANDMA OF THE WORLD! 'SITO' as she is known (in Lebanese) was a stay at home mom for us and only looked forward to taking care of her grand kids. When she was 16, she and my father gave up a child for adoption. She and my dad married, had 2 more children, divorced, and she acted as an aunt to my father's new child with my step mom. She treated him like her own, and now that my dad is divorced again, my mother now gets her hair done by his new girlfriend, and has lunch with his second wife. Not to mention that she still plans holidays around everyone's schedule. Yes...she cooks for EVERYONE. All the extended family, ex's included, come to my mom's for holidays. THE REAL SOUL AND HEART OF MY MOTHER, however, became apparent when my son and niece were born in 1997. My son was born in March and my niece was born in June. My niece, however, was missing a part of her brain, was brain injured at birth, she had a rare syndrome, and she needed to be tube fed. My mother took care of her everyday so that my sister-in-law could finish vet school. My mother learned how to attend to all her medical needs as well as numerous trips to the ER when my niece had extended and damaging seizures. Each seizure damaged more of her brain, and my mother's heart broke as she hauled this baby and her needs to each therapy and hospital treatment. Through this time, my mother managed to give my child equal time, and to add more heartache, my son was diagnosed with Autism. She now had 2 grandkids with severe needs and she kept us all afloat emotionally and physically. She dedicated her life to the needs of my niece until my niece passed away at the age of two. After this, her brother took a turn for the worse with diabetes and she took him in and equipped her house to be accessible as he eventually lost both of his legs. She dressed EVERY WOUND until he died a few years ago. She also had to take care of her aunt and uncle who practically raised her, until they died in the same year. She cleaned and made all of these sick people comfortable, and she was STILL THE BEST 'SITO' to my son! She managed to drive me and my son to numerous appointments as we got him on his road to recovery. She babysits CONSTANTLY and makes our lives SO WONDERFUL! She is the STRONGEST person I know! My mom will always have a broken heart for the grand baby that she couldn't save, but she still manages to show us what unconditional love and strength is. GOOD NEWS was that this woman also spent 36 years of her life worrying about the welfare of the child she was forced to give up. In 1997, her dream came true and she was reunited with he first child (my full brother). We were featured on Lifetime's Beyond Chance because the reunion was a chance meeting. OF COURSE she hosted a party for the filming and viewing of the show, then she was faced with the tragedies. She continues to provide the best life for the whole family and she gets nothing in return. She is truly and ANGEL and I am HONORED to call her my mother! I can only home to be a fraction of the woman she is! She has helped save my son and I will be forever in amazement of her!!!! The world is a little bit better place because my mother is a part of it! I love her SO much. She's always wanted to improve her home, and she seems to NEVER have time to do it. She literally does NOTHING for herself...and she UNDOUBTEDLY deserves it!

Chloe's special Mom      By Ryan Stevenson (for Chloe Stevenson)
Let me start by saying that since our daughter is just 1 year old me (Dad) is helping her out with this story. Our daughter, Chloe, is so prescious to us because she is adopted. My wife tried for a very long time with her first husband to conceive. However, since he was unaccepting of adoption, the joy of being a mother was lost to her. They eventually divorced and fate brought us together (lucky me). She continued to have medical difficulties and after a few years we realized that adoption would be the only way for us to realize our dreams of being parents. After skimping and saving we were able to afford adoption services. We waited for about 3 years until the day our prayers were answered and a birthmother chose us. Within 6 weeks we were parents to our Chloe. From the moment she was born, Wendy clung to her as any mother would protect her young. It hurt Wendy to leave her everyday with a sitter, but we were not immediately financially able to have her be a stay at home Mom. Chloe has picked up her personality and love of life. Chloe will often put her forehead to my wife's as if to say, we're together, like one. Chloe is learning quickly and it is apparent that Mommy is where Chloe wants to be. I am glad to say that recently Wendy has been able to be home with Chloe which is making them both ecstatic. They love to sing songs, dance and play with our dogs. They are having a ball and I just think our lives would never have really been complete if Chloe had never come along. Wendy is the happiest, proudest and most loving mother I have ever seen. No matter what decisions Chloe may make, through right & wrong, good & bad I know that Wendy will be there to support and love pur daughter throughout her lifetime. Although Chloe can not speak, I can see in her eyes everyday how much her Mom means to her and how much they make each other smile and thrive. Biological or not, the love between them could not be any stronger.
My mom is the greatest mom      By Monica Mann
I have to say that my mother is the best mom in the world, she is always there for me for good an bad, i just went through a custody case for my daughter and my mother was there the whole way, if it was leaving work the last minute, or coming up with the money for the lawyers, i know that she gets stressed out because of me but she doesnt show it, my mother deserves the world, cause she sure gives what ever she can to the people she loves, and never wants to see anyone do without, she worries about everyone and doesnèt want to see anyone suffer, my mother has helped me out soo much in my life that i owe my life to her. Not only is my mother a great mom for my brother and I, she is also a great grandmother to her grand kids. I hope u pick my mother cause she really diserves this.....and more, i love her with all my heart and i know it is a mothers job to be there for there kids but i believe that my mother has been there and gave up alot for her kids, my father was a truck driver and my mother was home with us kids by herself, and my mother worked really hard to give her kids everything and the best life possible. so please pick my mother.
Only a mother's love      By Erin White
Only a mothers love would pick up your spirits. My mom always has love in her heart for us kids!! Growing up she put us and our needs before her own. I know that sounds like what mom's are supposed to do!! But my mom really did!! She was a stay at home mom and I can't think of a single time she made something out of a box!! My mom cooked, cleaned and did everything with so much love for us kids!! We gave her a run for her money too!! There were 4 boys and 2 girls.

I think my mom should win because she is by far the most Special MOM!!

The most wonderful mom a son could have      By Albert Lopez Jr.
I am 14 yrs. old and May of last year I was diagnosed with a rare children's cancer called Ewing's Sarocma!! My mother has been there for me in the hard times and the good times. She never left my side.I'd like to call her my guardian angel! I love her to death. If she was not always at the hospital with me before and after work I would not me in remission now.She did everything she could possibly do for me. The hospital was the worst place for me,but when my mom was there it was just a whole lot better. She is my world! She IS my angel sent from GOD! I LOVE YOU MOM
A mother like no other      By Ashley Vaughn
My mom is not only a loving mother but a role model. She has given so much and has expected so little.

At a young age of 18, my mother was pregnant with her first born, me. She continued her education and her occupation. Even after having 2 more children, she recieved her Masters degree in Social Work.

She has always been there for me. Whenever I had to be admitted into the hospital or when i went to the many doctor's appointments, she was always there holding my hand.

Unfortuanately, she was in a car accident that caused her to suffer massive brain damage. She is now permanently disabled. She can no longer walk, drive, work, or take care of herself. In return of her constant giving, I have been there for her to make sure that she is okay.

She is an amazing mother, despite her condition. If anyone deserves recogniction, it would have to be her.
How do you thank a Mom ?      By Keelan Robinson
How do you thank a Mom for years of love, support, understanding and mentoring? There is no simple solution to this when you have a Mom like mine. Every year she seems to get better and better, the giving increases and my love and appreciation for her grows. I always knew that I had the best Mom; my friends have always said that they wished she was their mother, but it was not until the last few years that I truly understood how amazing she really is. My mothers life reads like a novel, in her adult life alone she has survived (and I mean survived!) not one but two devastating house fires. She lost all her possessions, memories and family history. I think that is why she is now so attached to any family photo that she can come across. She lost her father and husband both to cancer within a month of each other. But the most devastating loss of all is that of my brother. Brendan was like an angle to my mother, and she loved and cared for him every one of his 8 years of life. She also lost him to cancer. As a mom of 4 living children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren she is a wonderful role model. I did not realize how much until I became a mother 2 ½ years ago my self. My husband and I struggled for years to have children; we finally had to resort to fertility treatment. She was with us every step of the way; she even helped by giving me many of the required daily needles. She was the first one I told when a treatment did not work, and her hugs, tears and support helped me to keep going. She was also the first one we told when the treatment had worked. I couldn’t say the words “we’re pregnant” so all I did was nod my head. Somehow she knew- and that hug was one I will never forget. It was then that I realized that she had wanted this as much as I had. The birth of my son brought many joys but it also left a pain in my heart – for now I felt the love that she must have felt for the son she lost. She was so strong through it all, and no one ever knew her pain. When it was time once again for us to have another child, she was our rock. The treatments were harder this time, as we had a young son at home to deal with through it all. Time brought once again failure and then success and she was right by my side. I always knew that she was there for me but I never knew how much I needed her or how much she was able to give until this past fall. The last successful treatment of invitro-fertilization had blessed us with not only one baby, but two! Imagine three children under two years old, and my Mom was there all the way. The babies are now almost 4 months old and she helps everyday both physically and mentally. Not only has she taken on our laundry, dishes and diaper changing, but imagine a 68 year old lady on the floor playing monster trucks with her grandson (and she knows every trucks name!). She has put her life on a back burner to help us and for that I will always be grateful. On behalf of my brother and two sisters, my husband and our three boys (who are now the light of my Mom’s life), we would like to show the world just how special our Mother really is!
My Angel      By Angela Sampson-Whitty
My mother is special for so many reasons that I would not have enough words to express to her how special she is. My mom raised me alone for the first 8 yrs of my life. She sacrifice her time and job to raise me. My mom has always been a special force is my life. She always stands by me when I make important decisions. My mom never tells me what she thinks I should do but lifts me up when I need her. She is the only person who can tolerate my funny ways and my moody moments. I have always belived that God created her just for me. She has a Godly presence that everyone can feel when she walks into a room. My mom has become my best friend as I have grown up. She has been my support when I was a single parent. My mom has been strong tower for me since I've been married. She has been a wonderful grandmother who takes care of her grandchild like she took care of me. My mom is special because she is my Angel sent from God up above to love and take care of me. My mom deserves all the best in the world and I know that my Angel is truly a blessing to my life.
Beauty Seeker      By Miss Radha
My mom is an amazing woman! I have five siblings and she never ceases to inspire all of us, everyone we know, and everyone she meets. She's a teacher who never stops teaching people to see beauty everywhere. She taught us to read, to love monkeys, to start our own businesses, to be good people, but most importantly, how to appreciate what life offers. So, of course, she’ll always be what we appreciate most.
Lillie Taylor - Mother of The Year      By Mary Y. Taylor
Lillie Taylor is the epitome of the word "Mom". When you look up the word in any dictionary the consensus of the word is a female who nourishes her young/children. That she has done and done well. My Mom is the Mother of 11 children and Grandmother to 26. She is a very active part in all of our lives and continues to provide each and every one of us with love and guidance.

Mrs. Taylor grew up in Grenada, MS and moved to Millington, TN as a young girl. Her family was farmers. She helped in the field as well as in the house. She doesn't have very many recipes, but remembers how her mom made things and she just goes from memory. My mom makes anything from homemade ketchup to teacakes and/or a recent dish Emeril has kicked up a notch on his show. Her decorating and dressing skills can be put up against some of the best designers. She does this effortlessly. When we were in school our classmates and teachers could not understand how we always had new outfits. My Mom would make them for us. She could sew from a pattern and/or without. She would also add her own creative touches to it. I know that Martha Stewart receives accolades for her cooking, decorating, fashion sense, etc. but until you meet Lillie Taylor who is 74 years old (you will need to check her driver's license and birth certificate to make sure because she definitely does not look it) you will ask yourself how she did this and pretty much by her self. A couple of vivid memories of my Mother being so caring
Were many years ago our Church went on a picnic about 60+ miles outside of Memphis. We were all having a great time, when it was time to break for lunch each family got together and had their lunch. My Mother had cooked and prepared to days. We had some of the best food around. While we were eating, talking, laughing and all, my Mother noticed a young boy who was on this trip with our church standing under a tree by himself. She asked us if we knew him and none of us did. She went over and introduced herself and asked him if he wanted to join us in lunch. He was ecstatic. He
Thanked her over and over again. Another similar occurrence would occur with my Father. He worked at a Naval Station and would invite them to Church. If they came to Church, he would bring them home afterwards for a home-cooked meal that many of them yearned for without giving my Mother any type of notice. She would feed all of us along with them and not complain one bit. My Mother is also active in her church as well as a social club that she has been a member of for over 40 years.

Another side of my mother is the competitor. My Mother was always the best jack player, the best baton twirler, the best hula hooper, etc. therefore she loves sports. She enjoys watching ice skating, tennis, basketball and golf. She calls her favorite athletes by their names around the house as if they are her kids. She supports many charity events and if she was born in a different era she would have been on of the best actresses that every graced a movie screen.

In conclusion, my Mother is there when you need her as well as when you don't. I know that my Mom is super and very special not only to me, but to many others. She will do whatever she can in any given situation. My Mother is the Best!
The Woman Who Gave It All      By Amanda
Twenty years ago is when this journey began. Just as any self proclaimed writer would begin their autobiography; it was a cold February afternoon. My mom quit her job to take care of me. Growing up was absolutly wonderful. My mom was one of those perfect house wives, who would bring us out cookies and juice to all the neighbourhood kids. Once I was in elementary school, my mom took on the roll of President of the Parent Assosiation at my school. She went above and beyond her call of duty. Every kid in my school, absolutly loved her! She was amazing. She always supported me in everything I did. She is my hero, in every shape or form. She is everything that I want to be.
She has brought people into her home, and into our family. The amount of people who call her 'mom' is amazing. All my firends and my younger sisters friends. She has a heart for everyone she encounters. And she is so strong! This year has been one of the hardest though, as she has lost her husband. My dad died in January, and they have been together for 43 years. She has been strong for me and my sister. And I know that she deserves this prize more than anyone I know! She fills her world with love. And even though words can describe who she is, and what she means to me and the world, she does deserve it.
My Mom Is the Greatest      By Will Buxton
(Please note: Will is only six years old. I am his grandmother and am typing only what he dictates to me.)
My mom is the greatest mom! My mom is a neurologist. That means she is a brain doctor, and I have two little brothers. My mom helps sick people all the time. She has time for all of us, too. Sometimes I wake up at night because my little baby brother is crying, and my mom and dad are still up doing things for us. She takes me to school and picks me up. She helps me with my homework and won'te let me eat junk food. She makes nice dinners and brushes my hair. She loves me and plays with me. She makes good birthday parties with a moon bounce and a scientist. We all go to church and my basketball games and my tee-ball games. I love my mom.
Why my Mom is Special      By Grover Evans
My mom deserves to win this contest and more things than I could ever afford to give her. I am a 17 year old high school senior who doesn’t mean to cause her grief or worry. But in the course of trying to live my life and have some fun, I have caused her plenty of both. She has been there for me when I decided I wanted to be on my own and run away from home. I only ran to several of my friends’ homes. She called all of my friends and acquaintances in my cell phone looking for any signs of me. She did not know if I was dead or alive. She did not deserve me skipping class and not doing my homework. All of which caused me to have failing grades in all of my classes earlier this year. My father and his wife don’t want me in their home. My step-dad told her he did not want me in his house anymore either. She moved us into an apartment so she could devote her time to helping me. She drives me to school everyday and picks me up as soon as she gets off work. I know she is tired when she gets off work, but she never complains. We don’t have a lot of money, but she has managed to purchase all of the things I need for graduation and prom. I know she is not buying herself a lot of the things she needs in order for me to have the things I need this senior year. If she does not deserve to win this contest, then I don’t know who does. I hope you feel the same way. Pamela Evans-Smith is deserving of being named a special Mom. I am proud and blessed to be her son.

My Pride and joy      By Sheryl Duvall

I love my mother dearly, but this story that I am writing is about how good it feels to be a mother.
One day I was sitting in my room not really watching T.V.
I was a little depressed. My 2 year old came into my room and lay down on my bed. She looked up at me and said I love you. She then went over to the dresser and got a brush and climbs back onto the bed and started combing my hair. This may not be the saloon treatment that I would like to have. But it meant even more to me then relaxing a day at a hair saloon.
My children mean everything to me. Another small story is when my sister and I were sick from food poisoning at that time my eldest daughter was 3. All I could do was lay down between the trips to the bathroom.
My daughter tried to take care of me by keeping me covered up, she even tried to feed me, She was able to go into the refrigerator and made a sandwich for me.
And made sure I ate it. She stood there and tried to make me eat it. These are some of the joys of being a mother. I Thank God with my whole heart that he gave me the chance to be one.

Mom      By Eyonna
My mom is divorced and I Don't go back and fourth between her and my dad. I live with my mom. She thinks about other people and NEVER thinks about herself. She helps people in need and she works almost twenty-four seven.I try to help her but she says she can do it by herself. She doesn't have one minute to herself. My mom does struggle with our schedule.
Moving day...      By Natalie Gravelle
I am 8 months pregnant and just moved this past weekend. I have been having a lot of trouble with swelling during my pregnancy and was dreading the move and the unpacking. My mom spent the entire weekend at my new house. She scrubbed the entire house from top to bottom, unpacked, put things away, she even took me to get all the paint for the house. She is already planning renovations and gardens to make the house feel like a home. I couldn’t have done it without her.
Trapped Inside      By Lori Koutny
One year ago, my mother suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke. 95% of people who have this type of stroke die. Thankfully, my mom survived. Before her stroke, she was always very active. She bowled, golfed, played with the grandkids. Her stroke took over the left side of her body, though, so she is very limited on what she can do. She says it's like she is "trapped inside herself". But, one would never know! She has such determination and such a positive outlook! Nothing gets her down! She has become an inspiration to me and so many other people around her! She goes to the "gym" 5 days a week with her husband, determined to regain some of her strength. She manages to get up and run the vacuum, even if it takes her an hour to vacuum one room! She has had to re-learn nearly everything people take for granted daily (showering, eating, dressing, writing, even answering the phone). Not once has she complained! She is one of the strongest women I know! I am so proud of her and I aspire to be as courageous, positive, and beautiful as she is! She is truly a magnificent person!
" Super Mom Never Rests"      By Chante
Hi my name is Chante Gomez and I am 15 years old. My mom has been a single parent for me since I was two. Since then she has worked extra hours at work she was a doctor's assistant. However when I turned nine she had a baby my sister victoria and decided to be a stay at home mom. Two years later she had another baby angelina my second youngest sister and since then has'nt had anytime for herslef. My stepfather works alot so she pretty much does everything by herself, except when I come home from school. I help her as much as possible , but she still seems to be severly stressed out. Since last semester my mom had gone back to school to become a nurse, what little time she spent there was all the time she had to herself. Just recently my aunt had a baby she's so cute her name is alexandra:]. But unfortunatly my aunt did not have a babysitter since she needed to go back to work. So my mom wanted to help her sister by babysitting the baby. Unfortunatly the stress eventually began to build and she was having difficulty in school, so recently she had to stop school for the time being just until my sisters grow up alittle more. Now she does'nt have anytime for herself, and my sisters and me just had walking pnuemonia. She seems to always be giving to us and others, like her friends, classmates, neighbors, but never seems to have time for herself. So please give my mom something she can do on her own without me and my sisters. This way she wont be so stressed, and can be happy with atleast one thing she was able to do since she does'nt get out much either.

Thank you sincerly;
Chante Gomez:]
How Did She Survive Without One      By Meghanrose Bertell
My mother is the best mother ever! Honestly I dont know what in the world I would do without her! I recently tore ligaments in my knee playing soccer and I had to have surgery. It was a very hard time, my mother is a teacher and she had to take a lot of days off work to take me to my doctors appointments. She had to tend to my every need because of my inability to walk. I had trouble sleeping a woke up a lot in the middle of the night and every time she would be right next to me helping me to the bathroom and taking showers, having to wake up the next morning extremely early for school. It was also a very depressing time because of my inability to play soccer for a year and soccer being a tremendous part of my life really afffected me. She was always there to listen to me cry and leaving me cards she wrote in trying to uplift my spritis. Her mother passed away from cancer when she was tweleve and my mother already took on the role of being a mother to her younger siblings. I do not know how she grew up trough those though years without a mom. She is a hard working world history high school teacher who puts a lot of effort into her work. Last year she started a new class called AP human geography. She spent her only break, the summer, preparing for this class and going to many conferences. The first year was extremly rough and stressful for her, but she was determinded to make it work so she just put in more time and effort. Recently she found out that not enough students signed up for her class and before she had the chance to re-cruet other students, other teachers told others who planned on joining to re-consider. This hurt my mom very much and all her effort seemed to go out the window. During all of this she is trying to receive her masters degree so she has been taking a lot of online classes. I am also a full time student at communtity college taking 16 units and with my knee it was very hard to keep up, but it was possible because my mother was there to help me with my homework and papers. She is very stressed out and I want to help her ease some tention. She never goes out of the way to do anything for herself and she always lives for others. She is my best friend and I love her. She is the best mother ever and she always listens to my annoying stories of drama. haha Through my teenage years and my emotions going haywire she always knows when something is wrong and listens to me cry. Thank you very much for this opportunity for me to maybe take care of her.
Thank you!
A Mother's Tribute to her Sister      By Angie Hannan
In May 2003, our son, Kade, was born prematurely at 28 weeks, almost 3 months early. At 24 weeks of pregnancy, we found out that Kade had a severe heart defect. My husband, Kyle, and I were ready to tackle the heart problems...knowing that our son would have at least 4 open-heart surgeries before he would reach adulthood. Then Kade decides to come early. So in addition to the heart defects, he would have all the prematurity issues to overcome as well.

We all felt so helpless. How could a child make it through all of this?

My sister, Allison, found a way to help Kade.

She had a daughter, Grace, in February. She was a little weary at the time (afraid others would be put off by such a thing) but lovingly offered her breast milk for him. I cannot breast feed because of medications I take for Crohn's Disease. So where I fell short in giving him the best foundation, she came through with the best gift of all. The gift of a better start…the gift of life.

Breast milk has been proven to help premature and sick babies and Kade was both. We had to work out the logistics because she lives in Virginia and I in Maryland. So she would pump, pack it on dry ice and we would do "milk runs" across state lines.

Allison has worked so hard to provide nourishment for her own child and mine. Even when it got to be overwhelming and she stopped feeding her own child, she continued to feed Kade. She was so determined and devoted to his cause. She fed him for the first seven months of life and through two of his four heart surgeries. While he still has a lot of challenges in his life, my sister gave him a great foundation to build upon.

My sister has saved my son's life. He was born weighing 2 pounds, 11 ounces. Kade spent his first 4 1/2 months of life at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He is now at home with his family.

Kade now weighs 30 pounds and is a thriving 3 year old. The doctors marvel at his excellent weight gain and I marvel at my sister and her gift.

Allison is a true testament to what a mother does for her child, or her sister's child.

Thank you.
Sincerely,

Secret Keeper      By Dave
One of my mothers best qualities was her ability to keep a secret. You knew if you sold her something it never went any further. She also avoided listening to others gossip around her. I always appreciated that about her.
