Plan ahead to create a fun Halloween night with friends. Do any baking and decorating well in advance. Prep ingredients for the food you will be making early in the day and set up drink stations so that guests can help themselves when they arrive.
Plan a themed costume party based on a television show, movie, or a certain era. Choosing a theme will help your guests come up with costume ideas.
Plan a special treat for your guests, whether it is an adult or child's party. Make loot bags out of orange and black gift bags. If you are hosting a children's Halloween party, make sure that the decorations you use are safe for children or kept out of their reach.
Flashlights are a safer alternative to candles for lighting your jack-o-lanterns. You can cut a hole in the back of the pumpkin for the candle to stick through and light up the inside.
